Back at work six weeks post op lthr posterior

i was a bit anxious about going back but it is great to be back and not be thinking about my hip all the time. I am mostly pain free and have no problem with anything I need to do at work mostly office type work and driving. Only issue is I get less steps in per day at work than when I was off. I was up to 10,000 steps and only did 5,600 yesterday. Keeping up with my exercises and into bed early although the nights are still my worst time. I miss sleeping on my left side. I feel like I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel 😀

I send inquiry early but it’s gone.

    Question if you don’t mind.

When did you start walking without crutches to get up to 10,000 steps a day.

I am 3 1/2 weeks post op.  THR Right side

I am told I must use crutches and often I forget as I have no pain and get across room and see crutches on opposite side of room or house. It’s hard to remember.

I would love to drive soon.

When did you start driving.  I feel I can now as no pain meds and besides raised cushion I feel better then before surgery and I was driving then.

I have been sleeping on left side with a body pillow for 3 nights without pain.  Have you tried that.

6 hours sleep without pain waking me up is amazing.

Sounds like you are doing fantastic and so happy you shared with us.  Hope you get answers on finding time to keep walking and exercising as I feel that will be challenge for me too once I am back to work.

I do sleep on my right side with a pillow but still am up two to three times a night as I get a bit stiff, I was allowed to drive at three weeks and I have been using a crutch on my long walks till last week. I go to a lovely park and initially walked for 15 minutes then turned around. I added five minutes each walk and built up to an hour. Then I have several smaller walks each day. I also use a stationary bike and go to the pool. My surgeon said I will know when I don’t need a crutch when I start losing them which is pretty much exactly what happened. Even last week I was worried I would still need a crutch now but I am walking well with no limp or pain. I do limp a little if I sit for too long when I get up, takes a few steps to get going. I don’t expect to be pain free for some time most people say it’s a year or more to recover fully. Just feels so good to have some of my normal life back. Good luck with your recovery

Congrats on your recovery!  You are going to get better and sleep on your side again.  Biking, swimming, and stretching helped me immensely during my recovery.  I also liked to use several muscle rubs; some with menthol, arnica, celadrin, and/or capsaicin.  I've heard it can up to a year to make a 100% recovery.
