Back cortisone injections and PMR.........

After my flareup last year i decided to try the DSNS reduction method. In the past i reduced by one quarter mg monthly, so i modified the DSNS table to cut down half a mg over 60 days ,that gives me my quarter per month.....I am now on 8mg pred mornings only and all is good........ How ever, next week i am receiving cortisone injections for a senovial cyst in a lower back facet joint that is causing sciatic pain in my right leg and making life a bit miserable to say the least.........My question is.....will this effect my pred reduction ???? At this stage i am not sure of the amount of cortisone that is involved in the injection......i don't know how long it stays with me .....i suppose it dissipates through the whole body in time......So my idea is to stop my pred reduction and just stay on my 8 mg for a month or two and see what happens after the injection.........

Has anybody  had a similar experience....... thanks in advance.

It shouldn't affect your pred reduction - the pred injection has most effect locally although it does get into the rest o the body. I occasionally have steroid injections for hip bursitis and it makes little difference otherwise - whether I'm trying to reduce or not.

Thanks for the reply Eileen...... I am hoping that will be the case for me as well...

So far the DSNS seems to be working good...... however from 7 mg downwards is my hardest task..

      Many thanks.....

I've had a few injections of steroids into my lower back and I never even considered or thought about changing my prednison dose. It simply was not something I thought about. And I did just fine. From one long term chronic pain patients suffer (11 years) I wish you luck on your injection. Some people get absolutely no relief some people get a little and some people get complete relief. I know because one time years ago I got complete relief. Unfortunately it only lasted for about 9 months.
