Back from holiday - what have I missed???

Come on people - give me an update on what's happening in your world!

I'm doing really well - down to 4.5mg daily and 20mg MTX weekly (plus folic acid 3 x 15mg x 3 days).

I have no pain to complain of, and I'm bright, alert and happy back working full time.

My only issue is losing all the weight I've put on in the past 12 months!

Hi Morry, sorry to welcome you to the PMR club!

I really feel for you, the first few months are so hard - mostly as you learn to adjust to your new life. This is not a disease that will go away quickly. The drugs will help, but not cure you.

I read on another post that you are unable to work - there's nothing you can do about that other than just try to adjust. Do not try and 'get some strength back' - you will do more harm than good.

Make sure your wife understands the disease and how it is effecting you. This is a good starter document:

      patient.info/health/polymyalgia-rheumatica-leaflet

Maybe you can look at this time as an opportunity to re-train in a new field?

The pred could be causing your hands to blow up, try not to stress, it will probably settle down as you start reducing your dose.

READ everything you can on here - it's the best source of information you can find.
