Oh dear, that's not good to hear. Employers need to be more understanding and should accomodate the needs of their employees. Do you not have an Access to Work agent ?  Search in google to find out more.

I feel for you and hope you can be strong enough to keep your job as I know we all need a job just to live.

Sending you gentle hugs from ME to YOU....wink xx

Hi I'm also working in education and finding it really difficult to work at the moment my headteacher isn't sympathetic at all and this has put me under a great deal of stress I have already drop down to a 4 day week next week in seeing a employment advisor through the pain management clinic , I'm finding it really hard to get the correct information around my situation so fingers crossed this lady will have the answers so I know my rights and fight for what I'm intiitled too I'm under the impression that you should be given the opportunity to work in another department within your local council if you are employed by them to work at your chosen school the reason they like to keep you signed off is down to money they can claim your wages back while under a sick note but can't do so if you take a few days off I haven't seen occupational health yet but I'm sure your employer should be taking their advise I really feel for you I know how much worry and strew I have been under and i still haven't reached the point you are now at do you belong to the union ? They can support you and accompany you to meetings hope you get this sorted very soon x

hi sarapainfree as just said are u in the union if you are get them involved they will help you loads.

if not please do not walk away from your job by reading this I can hear your gettin low with it but that's what they want for to to walk away and then they have did nothing wrong in their eyes if they pay you off which I doubt very much take them 2 a tribunal as they should be following instructions from OH that's why they sent you in the first place after all

keep your chin up and head held high this is there problem not yours

I agree Chris I was give a phased return to work certificate by my GP my head teacher said he didn't feel it was necessary if I had been off with depression that would be different what he chose to forget was I had also been given antidepressants but didn't feel this was the main reason for my absence but a symptom of fibromyalgia at the time I didn't know any different and returned to work , when I relayed this to the nurse at my pain management appointment she said he had no authority to do this he should have followed my doctors instructions since then I have made it my mission to find out exactly what I'm able to do or not do I was also told by my union that occupational health should have been involved at that time as the school would be liable if anything happened to me all he did was put me on light duties which involved me deciding what light duties were they never checked on how I was coping , my head teacher is now saying he wasn't aware of my illness or what j was going through this is un true as I always informed him of all hospital appointments and had physio through my works scheme which meant reports were sent to him I have just had a new big toe joint replacement and will now be off work for eight weeks the stress and worry I am still going through is to much with everything else my deputy head said I need to print off information about fibromyalgia so the head can have a better understanding I feel he should look himself before making judgements about something he knows nothing about I have been a loyal hard working member of teaching staff for 19 years but this seems to count for nothing which hurts be deeply

    Hi Sarapainfree

It's terrible how everyone is treated. Speak to CAB about where you stand and yes it's tiring battling against your work but don't give up. I know all to well about battling against work as I'm currently in that position too and I'm most certainly not going to let them win without a fight. Hope you get this sorted x
