Back on MTX after coming out of hospital

Hi MTX gang. Well after being hospitalised for 10 days and taken off MTX I finally saw my specialist to discuss other treatment and....... Yes, straight back on MTX! He says it was the mismanagement of my infections by my doctors that landed me in hospital and that the MTX works well for me. Having been off it for 7 weeks I have to agree with him but that doesn't solve the problems of management of infection by my doctors. He is apparently writing them a 'stern' letter! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ obviously I am concerned about what happens if I now get an infection but not only have changed my doctor (same surgery but the one who took me seriously and sent me straight to hospital) I am going to try to get an appt with him tomorrow to discuss my concerns. One thing I have learned from this experience is we have to be pro active ourselves and if in any doubt.... Bother the doctors! Hope you are all doing well πŸ˜Šβ˜€οΈ

Glad to hear that they are sorting you out. Methotrexate can be good or evil, depending on the side effects. Personally I've found it to be really good, helps a great deal with the arthritis and touch wood, I haven't suffered much in the way of side effect. Fingers crossed your doctor will take your concerns seriously and you get the treatment you need x

I agree! I think it works well for me it's just trying to get my doctors to understand that infections need treating and treating quickly. I did have evil side effects but stuck with it and they started to go so fingers crossed this time 😊😊

    Dear Lisa:

Although I am no longer on MTX I still consider myself part of the group. Β I did take it once and almost jumped out the window (don't worry I live on the first floor). Β I am now on Remicade and I have been relatively pain-free for two days. Β But I feel for all those who have taken MTX and suffered some adverse reaction. Β As far as the medical community is concerned I have three doctors on my arthritis case. Β They have yet to agree on what type of arthritis I actually have. Β So I am doing the "try each of the drugs until one works". Β Remicade seems to be okay so far.

Lisa, I wish you the best and try to keep away from those infections. Β

      Dear Jacob!

I am so happy to hear you live on the ground floor! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ hey once an MTX patient always an MTX patient. It's our experiences which help each other. I wish you luck too and hope the meds you are on work for you. The MTX itself gave me terrible side effects but once I got further down the line with it I'd just started to lose them.... Then I got infections which were not treated properly hence my 10 day vacation in hospital. Got my positive head on though 😊😊 watch this space! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

    Hi Lisa,

Good to hear your consultant is writing to your doctor, you did suffer quite bad with that infection.

I see that Chris wrote " Glad to hear they are sorting you out "

Obviously doesn't know that you can never sort an Essex bird out, but glad you are doing better.

Missed the banter that we get from you when you were in hospital.

Did you see the moderators post about the MTX and Folic Acid ?

Made interesting reading when you click the link.

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ john I have to disagree. The easiest way to sort an Essex girl out is buy her a pint and a bag of chips innit!!! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I started reading the link but got distracted by something shiny!

Everybody seems to be given different advice. I'm sticking with the 6 per week except MTX day. Saying that I accidentally did take both on the same day because the specialist told me to get back on it ASAP and I'd forgotten I'd taken the folic in the morning. Nothing major has happened that I know of.... πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ

Hope you are doing well John and enjoying the β˜€οΈβ˜€οΈβ˜€οΈβ˜€οΈπŸ˜ŠπŸ˜ŠπŸ˜Š
