Hello everyone this is the first time I have written on a forum. I was hoping to find out if anyone has felt the same as me. I was put on sertraline (accord) before Christmas due to stress and anxiety and depression after 3 weeks of side effects sickness being the worst (not being sick but feeling like I wanted to all day) it slowly disappeared and so did the anxiety( well less more) I started to feel normal again and then I got my repeat prescription which was a different make but I thought it would be ok as it was still sertraline after a few days I started to feel sick in the morning again and all day I found out that the tablets were by a non generic company so I asked after a bit of hassle from my doctors to get me the tablets which were manufactured by ACCORD again as they worked eventually I got them yesterday I,m on 50mg and took my first one last night still woke up feeling sick . Does anyone know how long this will last again I am happy I,m on my original brand again but can not stand this sickness feeling. The reason for the GP was not going to get them was because of COST!!! which I think is disgusting surely the patients well being should come first. Can any one help please. Thank you

Hello nIkij, it's a shame you felling sick all the time it's must be terrible, I'm not a medic so I can only give my personal thoughts. It seems to me that for the length of time you feel sick is because of he Sertraline and not who you get them from seeing that you feel sick with both of them.a lot of people have all differant side effect and sometimes you just have to work with for a while. It seemed at sometime they did work and mybe you will get over your sickness. if after a while you don't see your doctor because sertraline can be very good, you might just need something to settle your stomac. Best of luck, I hope you are ok soon.

Hi Niki know this post is quite old now but just wondered what brand they gave you that made you feel sick?

I've had a similar experience was on accord brand and doing well then was given lupin brand and started to feel worse again. The doctor is considering switching my antidepressant but after reading this I think it could just be the change in brand.

Hi Michelle...I had an absolutely awful experience last summer when my generic brand was changed. It made me spiral so badly that I wanted to die. It was 4 weeks before my doctor realized what was happening. I was able to get back on my original brand but it a few weeks before I was feeling any better. I live in Canada so I think my brands are different. I think this happens a lot and it's sad to think that many patients are being given different meds or increased doses when the problem is the manufacturer

I had horrible stomach upset and diarrhea for weeks when they switched the brand. I don't think I was absorbing any of the medication which is why I felt so awful emotionally

      Hi Lauren

Me too, I've had stomach upset and diarrhoea never thought it may have stopped me absorbing the medication properly until you just mentioned it.

How's things now for you, Have you managed to get hold of the same brand and stick to that one?

I was able to get the old brand back but it was about 3 weeks before it kicked in as I was still so physically sick from the other. I had the initial increase in anxiety then that tapered off and I was feeling much better after about 3-4 weeks
