Back Pain

I have been suffering from back pain for around 3 years now, I am a 30 year old male who is fairly active at work but not so much outside. I have had back pain on and off sometime its to an extreme level that i have been bed ridden for 2 days with my wife having to help me get up for toilet. At present i have a dull pain in the mid back that intensifies when inhale - I am currently working away from home and not in a place where i can see a doctor at the moment. I have been told by a doctor before that the causes of my pain are due to back spasms and been given anti-inflammatory medicine. Is there any good home remedies for back spasms that i can try.

Your best bet is warm compresses and VERY mild stretches. You can find them online. Just be careful so that you don't over do. One other consideration is that it might be an intercoastal muscle strain. They can be very painful with any kind of movement. The intercoastal muscles hold the ribs together and allow the ribs to expand with each breath. So you can see why it would make it painful to breath. Other then NSIDS and warmth to the area there isn't much that can be done without seeing a doctor. And even then the most a doctor can do is what is called a nerve block and they don't always work. I am a long time sufferer of back pain too. I am sorry that your having to go thru this. Best of luck.

Hi Shug! Have you looked into any sort of Telehealth physical therapy to check you out and see if you're able to do a few exercises or sometimes a single movement/stretch to at least help you get through the rough times? I like to tell folks the easiest book to digest is "Treat Your Own Back" by Robin McKenzie (probably grab it used on amazon for a few bucks...)
