Back pain and abdomen pain on left side under rib cage...scared!

I'm not sure where to start. A lot has been going on in the past month. It all started when I started to feel like I had a couple of drinks when I had not. I was able to calm myself down because I thought I might be having some sort of anxiety attack. Long story short the symptoms did not go away. So I saw my doctor last week. With my vague answers to his questions he mentioned he wanted to do some further testing. Part of the testing was blood work and a 24 hour urine. That was last Wednesday. I had the blood draw on Thursday and turn my 24 hour urine and on Friday morning. It just so happened that I started my period on Friday. Its normal for me to feel a lot of lower back pain during my periods. this time is a little different. I started to feel the lower back pain then the pain moved to my upper abdomen on the left side. Then the pain moved to my lower right side of my back. now the pain is back on the left side of my upper abdomen. Of course everything that I have been reading leads to one thing... Pancreas. after calling my doctor my blood work has come back normal. However my urine test has not come back yet. They told me it could take up to a week. In the past this pain may have been here and it has gone away. But because of how much reading I have been doing on whyI have been feeling funny I've noticed the back pain and the abdomen pain a little more.
I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon. However I'm really scared.

I'm going through the same exact thing right now! I have an MRI script that I'll get done soon. I have a hiatal hernia and some gallbladder polyps. I'm one a PPI, vit D and now a digestive enzyme. Going to try milk thistle. Also go to a chiro and saw and orthopedic doc. Getting checked for lymes and arthritis via blood test.

This sounds like my story and if u still check this- it's your gull bladder! Get an ultrasound. I can almost guarantee- your describing my pain to a T.

ultasound ? endoscopy ?
Could it be gastritis ?
Thank you.

I had upper endoscopy and it was gastritis. I changed my lifestyle. I eat better, do a lot of exercise and it's made a world of difference. I'm discovering my triggers as well and know that foods high in fiber are a big culprit for me. I've also started drinking apple cider vinegar every morning. I dilute one to two tsp with a bit of really cold water, down it and chase w more water. I still get bouts of it, but not as bad or as frequent. Food diary helps.

Thank you, but why did you need endoscopy ? ultrasound didn't show anything ?

Recurring pain for two plus years and family history of Barrett's esophagus. Bad acid reflux as well.

Ultrasounds wouldn't show gastritis only endoscopy. Ultrasounds don't tend to show much

I have been reading your story and following the responses in hopes of gaining some clarity into my own situation.
I had an an osteotomy and several fusions on my spine just a couple of months ago and have been doing really well but I have a very sharp pain behind my rib cage on the left side of my back. I will follow up with my doctor but I'm wondering if it's caused by my asthma or a possible relapse of pneumonia which I acquired while I was in the hospital for the spine surgery.
While reading the other responses I'm wondering if I'm way off base and that it's actually because of my pancreas or gall bladder?
Has anyone ever had this kind of pain in the rib cage a couple months or more after back surgery?
The pain is very sharp and almost constant unless I take pain pills and muscle relaxers. I'd love to know has or has had similar symptoms?

Have you found anything new out? I am new to this forum and found this while searching for "lower left rib pain". I have been having this dull ache in my lower left rib that radiates through to my back (directly behind the rib pain). It is tender to touch my lower rib and hurts inside as well. It started after having my son over 10 years ago and it comes and goes still after all this time. Sometimes while I am doing something as simple as sweeping, it will hurt and I have to stop. Sometimes it is just there when I wake up in the morning and will last a few days and then go away... It is painful but tolerable. But I do worry about it being something serious. I have Celiac Disease and Anxiety, I don't take any medications regularly, I am not overweight (I am under weight and always have been), I don't drink alcohol. I am just wondering if anyone has had any similar symptoms and/or has any information on what it might be. Thanks!
