Back pain and blood in urine

The pain started back in March/April and when I went to the doctor, there was a microscopic amount of blood in my urine. The doctor told me it was no big deal and gave me a muscle relaxer.

I went to my new doctor and she ran another urinalysis. There was still blood in my urine. The tests for this says "WBC esterase +1" and "occult blood +1" but there was no growth for the bacteria meaning no UTI.

Blood tests show MCH as low and platelet count as pretty high. Vitamin D levels were very low(bought some Vitamin D supplements). Everything else on my lab tests were good.

I will list all of my symptoms:

Back pain(lower right) that gets so bad I can barely stand up

Blood in my urine

Sciatica in my right leg only; numbness and tingling when I sit/lay down

Pain speading higher up my back

Frequent urination/urge to urinate without urine

NO PAIN TO URINATE.

I had an xray done and a renal ultrasound.

X-ray showed no spine problems

Ultrasound results have come back but my doctor wants to see me in person to discuss the results, unlike my x-ray results.

I do have an appointment to see my doctor to discuss my ultasound results but I'm curious as to the possilities.

Could be anything really...try not to worry. Easier said than done, are you female? Could be ovarian cysts? Quite common...not knowing can be worrying, I hope your appointment with your GP is quick and you have an easy fixsmile keep us informedsmile

Update, from what my doctor can tell, there's nothing wrong with my urinary system. The only thing pointing to a problem is the blood that's been present for 5 months now, almost 6 months.

The ultrasound showed no kidney or bladder stones. Everything was correct size and had correct blood flow. Blood tests showed proper kidney and liver function. Urinalysis showed no bacteria and no growth on the culture, just signs of occult blood and WBC esterase.

Doctor has referred me to a urologist, however, I have not made an appointment because I rather not spend the money if there's no signs of anything being abnormal on the ultrasound. I have too much experience with doctors being stumped on my health.

So before I even see a urologist, what else could even cause blood in urine? My doctor already asked if I work out and lately I haven't been able to because of my back pain so the answer is no, the blood isn't there from excess exercise. Any other known reasons? Should I even worry at this point?

Go to your urologist! I had the same symptoms pretty much. Urologist did a cystoscopy and has found 'something' he now needs to biopsy under a general. I don't know what it is yet but bladders dont generally bleed even microscopically without reason. I am not a doctor but please get it checked by a urologist. Best wishes.
