Back Pain and struggling to do anything
Posted , 4 users are following.
I am currently struggling with severe back pain, i have had this most of my life but fear it is getting worse.
I see an osteopath every 2 months to sort my muscles out and that releases some tension but now i feel that my problem lies deeper with my spine as i use to get the aching and not settling at night years ago and now i have it a whole lot worse than before.
I have tried stretching, yoga and meds, most gels to numb and ease the pain, i have cocodamol too but dont like the side effects of taking those as i am unable to drive with them as i feel dizzy.
Any one have any suggestions as to what i can try?
I am seeing my gp tonight but wondered what anyone else does?

Having an mri doesn't mean your doctor thinks there's something horrible going on but to determine where the pain might be coming from! Just diagnostic! Don't sweat it!
Good luck!

No i have not had a recent xray of my back, my gp seem reluctant to do this but i am pushing for this as the pain meds are not getting to the root cause of it.
I have tried so many methods and more. Not had a back brace though. i see a osteopath every 2 months to sort my muscles out but this feels different this time.
I am going back friday to see what i can get them to agree too. the sleepless nights due to pain is not helping either.
Thank you for your advice

Do the Xray to determine the extent and if you have a curvature of your spine and back discs that have disintegrated and possibly fused together.
That's my problem and from what I've been told, there isn't a long-term cure. To reduce the lower back pain, I stay off my feet and don't walk, as much as possible....But when the back starts hurting as a result of those or other physical activity, I put on my back brace before I do those activities and take some Aleve. After the activity, I put Heat on my back which reduces muscle & bone tension, use deep heat rub, as well as, use a chair back massager. A Long Hot Shower helps too..I don't take Any pain meds for my back other than Aleve...I don't won't to get hooked on opiates..

Hi Randy.
I see an osteopath every 2 months but this time it feels different it is central in my back near the base of my spine and going upwards a couple of vertibrae.
Last night i was in agony laying down which never happens, not even a hot water bottle helped other than 2 cocodamol that eased it slightly and i slept as they knock me out anyway.
I only take meds when i need to mostly i can cope with it, seems like the pain is radiating upwards and sometimes downwards which means i am aware that something is going on.
I will give it until friday and see what happens but i am pushing my gp for a scan/xray to find out the cause as meds are not a long term solution for me.
Thanks for your advice

Hello Dawn
Do you have spinal stenosis or something else ? Only after an MRI did I know that was the cause of my pain. I'm seeing a surgeon in October and
hopefully he will be operating before years end. A friend had the same problem, he had the surgery and was home the next day. I know it.s not easy living with constant pain but hang in there.

Hello Dawn
I felt like my GP wasn't listening so I found a new GP. She is a good
listener and doesn't hesitate to send me to the right specialist. My physio
said I had spinal stenosis and the MRI proved him right.
