Back Pain or bulging disc?

Posted , 2 users are following.

After having a UTI in August, I have had a continual pain in my lower back with a burning pain. All blood tests & ultrasounds came back clear.

I have been given a set of exercises to do. On doing research, it sounds like a bulging disc but unless I have a scan I cannot be sure. I have to go back to GP in 3 weeks if no better.

Sitting is the worst for me. It's better to be upright.

I am only taking ibuprofen and paracetamol which are just about taking the pain away

Any advice

Google 'Quinolones  and back pain' as a lot of antibiotics contain it.

I had then several times and found that I got tendonitis and neuropathy in one foot. I also now have backpain where CT and MRI scans have not really found a problem.

The back pain may of course be from my change of gait due to my foot problem.

I now need to put this to the nuerologist wh specialises in neuropathy who I have twice had to cancel due to train strikes!

Hi Amanda;  when you say that you have had scans, did they do one of the area that is painful?  for if so, then "a bulging disc" should have shown up???  if you still feel this is what is the problem, perhaps a referral to a good Orthopaedic surgeon, and an MRI  have done, this will definately confirm "yes or no".

Also re the scan/s did it not show any kidney stones?  the only other explanation (besides Dereks'wink, could be that the infection is not completely cleared/or has gone up into your kidney/s????..............keep us informed on how things go, as there is a LOT of different possibilities hey?................................Bron

Hi. I had a scan on pelvis, abdomen kidneys. X rays in hospital. All were ok. UTI definitely gone. Had two more samples sent away & came back clear. GP tested again & OK.

No scan on back yet. That will be the next step. It seems strange that it is worse sitting, much better when I am walking.

Also take care with long term ibuprofen. My wife ended up with 67 gastric ulcers after just taking it for a few day even although she was taking a PPI at the same time.

I must admit paracetamol seem to work better for me. The best thing is a hot water bottle
