Back pain when eating / burping

Hi all,

For about a year now, I have been experiencing back pain in between my spine and left shoulder blade which is brought on by eating. The pain is a burning pain, but not too severe, just uncomfortable. I can also feel the pain come on when I am about to burp, and burping relieves it.

It comes on almost instantly as soon as I start eating, and then goes within about 5-10 mins after I've finished a meal. It comes and goes now and again, but is never there when I wake up in the morning. It seems to be irritated more when eating spicy foods, and things with a tomato base.

I was put on lanzoprasole for a couple of months which seemed to help at first. I then stopped them a few weeks before having an endoscopy, which showed nothing other than mild duodenitis. However a few months later, the pain has now returned, so the lanzoprasole has been restarted. I was suffering from occasional acid reflux before that, but the lanzoprasole has put a stop to it.

I also have arthritis in the left shoulder, so I am wondering whether it could be referred pain from that.

Has anyone had any similar symptoms? If so, did anyone get to the bottom of it? As it is driving me insane!

Thanks in advance,

Alan
