I am not intolerant as sometimes I need to eat foods to make me go rather than stop me.  My body is weird but I came to say I do not have backpain but I have noticed postings from others' who have said they do and yes it can be part of IBS.

Hopefully some of those will see your thread a post accordingly.

Back ache with stomach cramps are symptoms of IBS because part of your bowel wraps around your back.  I have had back ache with my IBS and stomach cramps. I also have a bad back from an old injury which doesn't help.  Thankfully, I have no food problems.  I have had bowel habit changes, nausea and twitching in my stomach if I have a bad flare up.

Your food intolerances are also common with IBS.  If your doctor has ruled out other causes with tests, then IBS can be diagnosed.  Your doctor seems to be confident enough in his opinion so I would accept his word for it and don't worry about anything else.

Thanks I was told years ago it was IBS but never had tests and never had these cramps and backpain. The pains were higher up.

I saw eight doctors and had an ultrasound, stool samples and a celiac blood test done.  All of these were clear. My eighth doctor told me that I had IBS since I had had the same symptoms for three months, was no better or worse and had no new symptoms,   Sometimes doctors can diagnose IBS by your symptoms alone.  My brother was diagnosed with IBS this way.

Do you have bowel changes, bloating, nausea, heartburn or rib cage pain and gas?  These are also IBS symptoms to look out for as well as bladder problems.

I think it's down to being intolerant and possibly Celiac . my sister is and so it's highly likely but made a silly mistake and went gluten free before testing and can't put myself through six weeks of feeling more ill to have the test. They did a stool test that came back normal and bloods but think they should do a colonscopy. My cramps are very low down with the backache but when they told me I had IBS years ago the pains were higher up on one side.

IBS pains and symptoms can change over the years.  I sometimes have pain in my hips and ribs and lower down pain.  It is possible you could be celiac and also have irritable bowel.   The celiac blood test sometimes produces a false negative and you may need a stomach biopsy to confirm it if your doctor still thinks you have it.

A colonoscopy helps to rule out other bowel conditions but it will not show IBS because it is a functional condition.

I have back pain but right about tailbone and it spread out to cheek bones... They told me 4-5 years ago I have IBS with no tests either... But for the last two weeks I've had constant lower back pain when sitting or laying along with pressure on my rectum.. I did have constipation along with loose stools .. I have to wait for three months to see Gastro Doctor and this pain is constant... It's not crazy bad but just an uncomfortable dull pain... I don't remember hurting myself but who knows... My bowels have been the same for years tho.. The only thing I'm worried about is my rectum pressure and back so yes you can get back pain cause several IBS suffers have said they did too..

I have had tailbone pain for 2 years.  When I went to GP he referred me for colonoscopy as I did have loose stools and he thought I might have cancer.  Fortunately I didn't and it was assumed I had IBS.  However no medical professional ever suggested the pain could be linked to IBS.   i use a special cushion.  Looking at this forum is the first time it occurred to me it might be linked

Back pain and loose stools are linked with IBS as well as constipation, stomach pain and nausea.
