Good evening.

I was wondering if anyone could help me.

Im 52, male and had pmr for about 5 years now. presently on 7mg and struggling to reduce further at the moment.

I was just wondering if anyone suffers with back ache as I have over the last week or so been suffering and wondered if it could be related.to pmr at all?

I've had back problems off and on most of my adult life. Physio always helps. And I have a bunch of exercises I do very religiously, although they are crashingly boring! If PMR is involved I suspect it is actually more related to pred, which can weaken our muscles. But others may think differently.

what anhaga said. my back muscles are weakened by the pred/pmr. my physio gave me the teeniest exercises to do--very gentle on my poor body. they do help. key is finding a physio who gets what we are going through, and how little we can tolerate, compared to others. best wishes.

Is your backache constant or at particular times? Where - upper, lower, spinal, muscular?

You were very young to be diagnosed with PMR - were they sure about the diagnosis?

I agree with what others say about Pred. and muscle weakness. It was one of, if not the worst, of my side effects. Good news, it did improve greatly once off Pred but it took about 18 months

While our muscles are not giving us the support we're used to expecting it's only too easy for other bits to become strained.
