Back Problems - Thigh and Leg Twitching

Was wondering if anyone has ever experienced a back injury causing muscle twitching - specifically in thighs. A few months back I was having sharp pain in my lower left back. It would come and go - super sharp pain lasting a few seconds when stepping the wrong way. After thanksgiving I took a bad step while out shopping and had extremely bad pain that lasted the rest of the day. I woke up the next day, pain gone but a few days later I started experiencing twitching all over my legs but mainly focused in thighs. Sometimes spreads to calves, buttocks and stomach. The twitches are almost like mid-fires, they last a second or two. I had an EMG, 9 weeks into the twitching and all came back normal. Scheduled for a brain, cervical spine and lumbard spine MRI for Thursday. Worrying about the twitching has been consuming my life and looking for anyone who's had similar situations and if it could be back related.

I had twitching for years...especially when I sat too long or laid down in bed at night.  Kept my wife awake...leg jumping around all the time.  Felt like a nerve impulse through my hips and into my thigh causing it to contract.  Alternated legs from time time.  Docs called it Restless Leg Syndrome.  I take 1mg Xanax an hour before bed...no more twitching.
