Back support aids for those with lower back 'C' curve

Posted , 3 users are following.

I have idiopathic scoliosis – specifically a ‘C’ curve in my lower spine. Work have bought me a great chair for my desk but I often have to run around the University and work in student rooms and sadly the chairs are terrible basic plastic chairs with no back support.

I have been given a catalogue for back supports I can carry around and strap to or put on chairs but there’s a wide range and wondered if anyone could offer advice out which might be best for the kind of curve I have? I know were all different but otherwise I'm picking randomly!

I’ve tweeted and facebooked about as well, am hoping someone can offer advice from experience

cheers

V

Hi Vivienne, I have the exact same condition as you! My curve has recently developped into a C-curve and as you already know, it is extremely painful. I don't know much about back supports, sorry! but i can suggest something like a tens machine. You can buy them at most pharmasies/drug stores and you can get a more heavy duty one that straps on around your lower back or a smaller handheld one that you can stick anywhere (fit it in your bag!)

      Hi

I've tried a TENS and it doesnt seem to do my back much good.

Not heard of the heavy duty ones......this is one that clips over trousers or a skirt waistband
