    Hello HOTpicks99,

How awful for you that you got no help from rheumatologist. It doesn't surprise me, the one I saw just confirmed Docs diagnosis and treatment. So I guess you are doing right thing going back to Doc, so important to get a sympathetic Doc. In my experience meds aren't always the best option, so it might be worth exploring other ways of managing this. Good luck,

    Take care, Anne

I personally found referral to pain clinic was most helpful. The pain consultant I saw was lovely and diagnosed me from my history and my positive pain trigger points which my GP and rheumatologist had not bothered with even though I said I wondered if I had fibro. It's easy to lose faith in the nhs but it also seems to depend on whereabouts in the country you live. Good luck. xx

alotlot worse .cameron wants rid of the NHS and has plans to do so would have been done by now if it hadnt been a hung parliment which prevented it

Hotpicks I know exactly how you are feeling - only taken over 20 years for me to get  a diagnosis. Over the last 18 months I have had 14 appointments cancelled by the hospital only to be told when I eventually saw someone that I had fibro and the rheumatology department don't see fibro patients they are just discharged back to their GP.  Thanks NHS.  I am now seeking alternative therapies at a time I can least afford it as I am looking at reducing my hours at work.   to add insult to injury our local MP thinks he has done amazing things in securing funding for our local hospital - just let him knock on my door!   If you have a good GP have you suggested a second opinion at a different hospital?

iv just got a appointment to see a rhemotoligist

in augast   theres no point really because i was diognosesd with fibro

at scarborough about 7rs ago there was nothing they could do then and theres nothing they can do now .except turn me into a zombie with pills .

but you feel you have to go thru the motions other wise they just stop listening at all . . ii hate hospitals full of sick people and germs really stressing me up having to go in them on edge till i get out .

You never know tiswas you might have an appointment with a young dynamic doctor - always feel the younger  ones actually know more about fibro than the older ones. At the risk of teaching grandma to suck eggs!! make sure you are armed with a list so that you do not forget anything. I always get tongue tied and forget half of what I mean to say without my list.

Can you take someone with you.  I find it helps as they can either take notes or help me remember what was said.

difficult isn't it. Can I make a suggestion that you keep a diary of your symptoms, good days and bad and take it with you.  On my first appointment with consultant 1 she dismissed the list i had written. When I saw consultant 2 she was delighted to be able to read the history from my notes and listened. You have a while to go before the appointment so you never know someone may offer to escort you.
