Morning all
I'm off back to work on Thursday, phased return, 4 hours per day & I can't wait! It will be 11 weeks on Wednesday since my op & I am now 99% back to normal. For all of you waiting or just going through the first part of recovery, keep your chin up & think positive, it does get better x

Hi fern Glad your doing so well, I'm 9 weeks now, but have had continuos nerve pain, the hip itself is fine. I was just wondering if you where driving yet, nobodys actually said when i will be able to. Also have you heard of the 3month rule. I'm not sure what that is. Hope you get on alright when you go back to work. best wishes valx

Hi Valerie, sorry to hear about your nerve pain, will it get better? My surgeon told me I could drive between 3-6 weeks depending on when I could do an emergency stop. I didn't feel con until week 5 but gave been driving ever since. The 3 month rule is when most restrictions are lifted. When I went to see my surgeon at 7 weeks he was happy not to see me for a year but asked me to keep the raised toilet seat for 12 weeks. It takes this long for things to settle internally & even after 12 weeks you carry on repairing x

Thankyou so much fern, this has helped me enormously, as for the toilet seat i did try it without, but didn't feel happy not using, i was iust dropping on to the toilet and then struggling to get off. I've now driven twice just very short journeys and feel confident enough to do other short journeys. Best wishes love Valxx

Well done, it is lovely to hear you are fit and well. Good luck with your return to work. You have been such a strength to me during our recovery. I hope you have continued good health and enjoy 'normality'

Hi Malloo, are you back at work yet? I'm sure you may have already told me but my brain has gone mushy whilst I've been off (another good reason to get back)!
I think we have all helped each other & had a few laughs along the way!
I was up your way last week - we could have met up with the dogs for a lovely long walk (bliss). Love to you x

I go back to work properly on 5th September when the new term starts, but I've been going into school 3 or 4 times a week to start getting things ready. Although every bend, stretch and lift reminds me of how unfit I have become! Walking is fine but standing up after sitting or lying is more challenging - not sure of it's due to hip replacement or just general stiffness.
Anyway I hope you are enjoying being back at work and hope you had a lovely walk when you were in this area. Take care. Love Malloo x

Yes, I've definitely lost my fitness & feel a bit stiff if I've been sitting or lying down too long but the stiffness is in the rest of my legs & not the new hip! X

Well I made it! 4 hours back in the office (8.30-12.30) & I feel like I've never been away! I'm absolutely shattered! I actually can't wait for my bed tonight! X
