Back to work after ankle surgery.

Hi all,

back in February I broke my ankle playing football. I have 3 plates put in (I had one from a previous injury that was fused to the bone so couldn't come out so there are 4 plates in total).

The surgery was successful and I went on my way to heal. At the 6 week point and having the cast off it was found that one of the screws was backing out, so it was covered and told to come back in 4 weeks to review. The wound never healed and that the 3 month mark I had another op to take out a couple of little screws. Again upon return to hospital after this op I had another open wound and it was said that there was too much tension in the skin for the wound to fully close. This wound is on the outside of my left ankle right on the ball. So on the 10th of August I had one of the plate removed. I'm wondering if I can go back to work 3 weeks after this op. I'm a stock auditor, and does involve being on my feet for a good chunk of the day.

Really is something to ask your orthopaedic specialist - it will still depend on how well it heals and infection risk.
