Back where I started

Hi all,

I have been on 20mg Citalopram for 6 weeks now and up until about a week ago I was feeling great. All of a sudden, I feel like I'm back to square one. No motivation, appetite loss, feeling sad and crying a lot. I stopped smoking 4 days ago (using patches), and wondered if these were having an adverse affect on the Citalopram somehow? Any advice?

Thank you

I don't think the patches would be having any adverse affects on the medication. However, stopping smoking could be just temporarily putting your body under some stress which could be causing you to experience some anxiety, or you could be having a delayed reaction to some of the side affects listed on the medication leaflet. They do sound very much like that, and for some, we can experience these side effects on and off for weeks until we level out on this medication. I think be kind to yourself for a little while, rest of you need to and don't beat yourself up about feeling wobbly atm. It will pass.
