15/12/18Applied for MR
05/05/19MR decision denied LCW/RA
05/03/19Reported health change
06/03/19Phone appiontment sent consultants letter to work coach
06/03/19Told I dont need to provide fitnotes
08/07/19Told I do indeed need fitnotes
12/07/19Provided fitnote
12/09/19WCA (2)

Hi,
I'm afraid you won't receive any backdated money at all because it doesn't work like that when reporting changes for LCW. You will receive the extra LCWRA element from the date the 2nd decision was made.
Had you taken it to Tribunal after the MR decision made on 5/5/19, if that had gone in your favour then you would have received backdated money from the date the decision was made on 10/12/18.
Just so that you know, because you already had LCWRA then no fit notes were needed when you reported those changes because a decision had already been made that gave you limited capability for work.

That was meant to say because you already had LCW then no further fit notes were needed. Sorry can't edit post.

Thank you I thought this would be the case , I did have a phone appointment with my work coach when i submitted my health change and I asked him if i needed to carry on getting fitnotes and he said I didn't need to do them and to just hang tight and wait for assessment date ( he also said he had put that I needed a home assessment but I could not have one without a letter from my doctor ) If I hadn't have rang the assessment centre ( who told me I did need a fitnote) I would still be waiting for my assessment now

No problem. Sending in a fit note isn't important really but that just goes to prove that the health assessment providers also have no idea what they are talking about lol. The fit notes have nothing to do with them, they don't even see them. That's part of DWP and your work coach was correct, it wasn't needed.
I'm sorry i couldn't give you any good news but do remember that with any benefit claim, you should always take it to Tribunal, rather than putting in a change of circumstances and starting the process again. Most MR decisions remain the same, so if you've been refused with the original decision, chances are, you'll be refused at MR stage too.
Your LCWRA extra money starts from when the decision was made, so when you'll receive the first payment will depend when you assessment period is.... UC is paid 4 weeks in arrears. This means you could be waiting at least another month for the extra money.
