BACKPAIN AND CRACKING

Hi Emma,

I have the same problems as you are describing. I am 17 years old and have struggled with back pain for around 2-3 years.

Now it has gotten terribly worse and everyday is just a pain. I am constantly sore and uncomfortable and can never get a good nights sleep. I have had 3 MRI scans but nothing has shown up.

My back and neck crack on their own at least 50 times a day. I struggle walking because I feel the urge to lean over all the time and it tightens up. I lean to the side in a stretching position and what feels like my ribs are cracking all the way down. I have terrible cracking in my hips which feels the bones are rubbing together. My legs and bridge of foot cracks on their own also and get pain in these too.

My back and neck are more of a problem though. I was diagnosed with joint hypermobility syndrome but everytime I mention to the doctor about it they discuss something different, maybe they don't want to commit to that diagnoses? Even sitting down is sore now and every single position possible is just uncomfortable.

I seen a neurologist who pointed out that I have a large lump on the base of my spine/neck. When pushed in with fingers anywhere on my back is absolute agony.   I have a lot of tingling sensations in my hands and have been prescribed 20mg amitripyline and 30mg codiene during the day. But the drowsiness is bad.

Any help from anyone would be appreciated. Doctors do not listen and say this cracking is normal.

Thanks

Victoria

This cracking could be an onset of arthritis, I had my first lower back onset at 18 and I'm 76.....I've managed all my life and NO back surgery ever, I would not go to those means....

I know the UK is known for lots of tea drinking and I am an activist of NO FLUORIDE pushed down our throats as happens in many developed countries, the US for one where I am.   Tea leaves contain high amounts of fluoride....so you might want to think about this....   fluoride build up can cause joint damage...

There are many stretches to work with, and lots of supplements to help with joint pain.   Chiro work, I've done that probably for 30 yrs of my life....I would avoid that hard drug intake.     I don't know your issue but I know mine and I've managed my back for all my adult life.    J

Oh alternating ice and heat can help.   And smoking will only cause long history of many horrible issues including circulation.   My grandkids dad died last year at 55 from gues what, too many years of cancer sticks.....Yes, I'm adamant about this and can't say enough......J

    Hi joy,

I had letters through my door not that long ago saying there was a lot of fluoride in our tap water then after that I swapped to bottled water. I don't know a lot about what fluoride intake does but was better just to be safe.

I have looked into seeing a chiropractor but it cost a bit of money which I don't have at the minute my wage isn't a lot at the end of the month. I had Physio therapy but they stopped it because it was hurting a lot doing the exercises they gave me. I will look into the supplements though!

Thanks for your reply it is much appreciated

    Hi Victoria

I'm curious about the tingling hands symptoms. Is it both hands all the time or every now and then.

I'm curious because I had a similar thing going on until I resolved my joint and muscle problems. I dont seem to have it anymore.

      Hi Max,

      Thank you for your reply.

It is in my both hands every now and then. It is usually my 2 end fingers and it goes up into my elbow/forearm. I don't lean on my arm or anything so I know it's not that.

I also get tingling sensations at the very bottom of my back into my tailbone, the doctors said it was neuropathic pain and prescribed me amitripyline.

      Hi Victoria

Thanks for the speedy response. It's probably not related at all, but I was curious because I was getting terrible tingling and lasting pain in whichever hand I was holding my iphone. It was bad enough that I would avoid using the phone. The tingling and pain has subsided since I cleared up the problem that was causing the joint and muscle problems. I've been thinking that their may be connection. or maybe none at all. It's all so confusing trying to make sense of things.

      Hi Max,

Yeah mines gets really bad when I'm using my phone also. Even though I put the phone down it lasts for hours! It definitely is confusing, I just want to find out what's wrong with me which is why I resulted to posting on the forum, probably the same situation with most of the people on here.

That's really interesting.  Maybe there is a connection.  The condition that I had was a candida type infection. Though in my case the spine became infected and locked up and became very painfull and I'd get terrible muscle pains and spasms. The symptoms seem a bit different.

There is one thing that you could try that may ease your symptoms and give you further clues to find a diagnosis. Try drinking small cups of hot coconut milk. Not too much to start with. The stuff in cans from the supermarket 'I use the Pride brand' or the best quality available (approx 4 servings from a can).  It may seem a bit unusual, but I found that it eases the joints and relieves the pain really well, and very quickly, a few minutes or so.

It's not so effective for me now, having resolved the problem, but I could be a very helpfull diagnostic indicator.

If it's possible, look at my other previous posts. I'd suffered really badly for six years or so with non specific muscle, joint, and trapped nerve problems before I eventually solved the mystery and experimented with treatments till I found a cure.

I really hope it helps you to find a diagnosis.

Let us know how it goes.

As an after thought, It could be that your joint hypermobility problem is making the joints susceptible to infection, which is leading to pain and artiritis.

I say this because I had some back cracking (manipulation) done to me by a physiotherapist and it caused the spine to become infected, locked up and very painful.

I know a whole segment with RA take low dose, long course antiobiotics for the RA Infection issue.    I deal with OA body wide and I don't believe it's infection per se.  I took the low dose long course for 3 months to see if it might help the OA and my hair was falling out so I stopped...

Echineaca is known as an herbal antiobiotic and when I feel a cold may been coming on, I dose up on "E" for a couple days and symptoms are gone....been doing this for years...and works every time.

So maybe a  month on Echineaca would be a good trial, can't hurt.....and then stop.....not good to take "E" ongoing.....it's a start stop herbal.   Read up on it, maybe google Echineaca and arthritis.

I do most of my cooking  with coconut oil.....use it daily.  Starting to drink more coconut water and it's highly nutricious.

Just quickly read  those with RA, Lupus and another auto immune conditons should NOT take "E"......osteoarthritis is NOT auto immune.   J

Hi Max. Thanks for all the info you've put here. I'm trying to help my 18 year old son who suffers with his back and neck painfully cracking. Also tendonitis in his wrists. I will try echinacea and coconut milk, but wonder if you could tell me how you cured your problem? Thanks, Kathy
