Having returned home from holiday thinking I would see myself being stronger and being able to ditch my crutches NO....

I am in pain on both my hips, down my thighs, and have lots of swelling around the scars....  I am still doing the exercises but with pain....

Back to walking like a penguine when indoors...

I have physio on Monday and will see what they say, have emailed my surgeon but he is on Perternity leave until next week.... but have managed to get a message through to him.

I have had to return to the raised WC seat as my legs will not allow me to bend that far.

I did alot of walking in water on holiday thinking it would strengthen my legs but seems to have made me go backwards.

Feeling fed up and frustrated now.... knees will not straighten and click and clonk every time I bend them...

I am 14 weeks post op has anyone else gone backwards at this stage.

Your coping with the ups and downs of the heeling process. Patience is a key word. Expectations may be higher than you expected.

Its ok you will continue to progress. All this work to get muscle strength back is tough even for the best of those in good shape. Itis very hard on our legs All our poor joints it's such a struggle at first. It will get better as time goes on the body heels and the next thing you know you don't even think about it.

I know I over did it on holiday... but was been silly in saying i was  ok.. just did not want to spoil it for husband.

I will get there... and feel it will take time more than I expected.

Thank you for your kind words

Well all I can say Elaine is I ditched my crutches for two days and was out walking all swanky and cocky ... Lasted two days and I was exactly the same as you . I deduct you have done too much ... So easy to do ... As this seems to be a very very slow gradual healing . Went out with a crutch yesterday and feel better today .., I think our minds want to run but our bodies won't let us . Try taking it really easy and restful for a week and if you feel better there's your answer ...

Just remember there is no such thing as back words. Mabe a few bumps in the road, but nothing a good ole fashioned chocolate bar can't fix!

soon you'll be our carillons thru the streets for the holidays not to mention holiday shopping therapy!

Two sure fixes always something to bring a little sunshine !

    hi elaine,

checking in with you to find out how you are doing ?  hopefully you have been resting and taking it easier -

as you said yourself, you might have overdone it a bit during your holiday -

Your physical therapist will get you back - have them check your range of motion - maybe a massage to have the muscles lengthen or something -

Be gentle with Elaine, give her tender loving care, okay ?

big warm hug and let us know how you are getting on ...

    renee
