Backwards and forwards....stress related

Well not had a brilliant week, I have had alot of stress and anxiety and it has sent me backwards... true what they say stress is not good in the healing.

?Mother had a minor Heart Attack on Monday so spent all day in A&E which was like watching paint dry at the speed in which the staff were moving.  My mothers machine went off, showing flatlines, she was asleep at the time and I ended up shouting across the department after several staff had glanced over... "So flatlining means nothing to you lot then"..... relunctantly someone came over, her connection had fallen off.

?Then on Tuesday the long awaited results of my husbands scans following 2.5yrs of Cancer treatment, and BANG secondary now in his lungs... Yep no wonder I have gone backwards...

?I have walked miles around hospital corridors, but not had time to do any exercises and I know I have not stretched myself out enough..

?My mum is back home today so been over getting her place ready!! At 84yrs old they said she was fine to go home.

?My husband well more test, and then the Oncologist will see him in DECEMBER!! so we have decided we are going off somewhere for some sunshine and relaxation.   Hopefully having a swimming pool for me will get me on the plus side of recovery, and the sun will have a positive affect on us both.

?I will now have to delay having my knees done, like I did with my hips, but pain and discomfort is not going to kill me, and my husband needs me to be able to drive and look after him..   Do not feel sorry for me we are very positive people and he will fight this like he has done with the Bowel and Liver Cancer.....

?So just to say if you do get stressed then you will go backwards in the recovery like I have, but from tonight I will be doing my exercises and back on the path of getting down to one crutch only.

Your life sounds like mine at present!

I've had 2nd thr 13 days ago I really should have postponed it as my daughter was diagnosed with cancer in May.

To say my life is in turmoil is an understatement and now I'm on 2 crutches and can't drive to add to the stress of it.

I wish you and your husband well - you both sound so supportive of each other.

As you point out stress and trying to heal don't mix it very well

I can understand  100% how you feel...

I wish you and your daughter all the best....

It is hard for us to complain about what we are going through and I have found this site my support.

I am 9 weeks bi=lateral replacement and still on my crutches as I need my knees doing as well....   but they will now be put back... luckily my Consultant fully understands.

Stay strong and you will soon be driving. xxx

Dr told me best exercise was walking, you are using all the right muscles, all the ones that have either been cut or wrenched, and I just bet you walked miles though hospital corridors.

I found every time i fronted up to a kitchen or bathroom sink I got into the habit of doing the stretches that don;t quiet work anywhere else, you need the support of something to hang onto, and whats better than a kitchen sink.

I know you are going to cope but having Mum and husband sick at the same time, I can relate to that, my husbands has serious heart failure, and it has been a battle to keep myself going foward, Try to pace yourself, I can just hear you saying yeahhh right, with a laugh.

    my dear friends ...

I wish I had words to comfort  - no, not because I feel sorry for you, but to let you know about how loving and strong you are -

just remember to take care of yourself first so you can take better care of your loved ones ...

    sending you light and healing

    lovingly embracing all of you

      Thank you Renee,

Pain has returned with a angry head.... but it is all due to stress and not the operation .....  have booked a holiday so we can get some sunshine and I will have a nice warm pool and the sea to dip in.....

This way we get away from all stress factors for 14 days and recharge our batteries for the next episode in our life.

Thank you so much for your kind words.

    Hi Elaine

Third time lucky, I hope.  I'll keep it brief.  Glad you are going on holiday you need the rest.

Good for you having a positive attitude.  That's the only way to manage your stress.

    All the best Brenda C
