Bacterial Prostatitis

I have been struggling with prostatitis for about a year

Symptoms first in December 2021 diagnosed in Jan 2022. Symptoms were significant pain around the right testicle and pelvic area and sometimes right lower abdominal pain. Went on 6 weeks of Bactrim DS and the symptoms went away for 10 days and came right back.

In March went on Cipro for a month and it was no help. In April went back on Bactrim DS for 6 weeks and symptoms went away for 3 months (June-Aug) - thought I was done with it. Then symptoms came back in September. My symptoms have now changed - the pelvic and right testicle area soreness is gone but on and off lower right ab soreness and rarely a mild feeling of something near the rectum. A lot better but not great

After seeing 3 urologists I researched online and found a Dr in Athens (Greece) who believes all prostatitis is bacterial and has an in depth protocol of daily prostate massage and targeted antibiotics (IV and prostate injections) to cure it. I went for 1 day testing to him last week (and saw the Acropolis as well - never been to Athens before😀). The testing is critical I think. He does prostate ultrasound which shows where the inflammation is. I gave separate prostatic fluid and semen samples (after intense prostate smashing) that are being tested. This is apparently much more likely to show the bacteria which often does not show on a urine sample.

Those test results should come back in a few days. My plan if the results were positive was to go back to Athens for treatment (prob 6-8 weeks total off and on and pretty expensive).

Just yesterday I found this forum and a post indicating someone seeing a urologist in Tampa (where I happen to live) who did a 3 week course of IV antibiotics with success. Strangely enough I coincidentally have an appointment with that very same Dr in Jan (setup a few months ago by one of the other urologists I saw). Hoping now that a course of IV antibiotics might be a possibility for me near home instead of having to spend 9 weeks in Athens which is near impossible.

Sorry for writing a novel. This has destroyed my quality of life for a year and it’s nice to find a forum where people can help each other.
