Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) Oleas help!

Posted , 6 users are following.

I think I have thrush, but I also think I have bacterial Vaginosis. I'm currently on the week long regime of taking Balance Activ BV, it seems to be working. There's no more fishy smell, no itching or irritation. Until I change into different underwear and change the panty liner I've been using with the Balance Activ. It's usually at night. While the fishy odour is gone, I still have curd like discharge and the itchiness. Can anyone tell me, am I better off going to see a doctor for both these problems, or can I use the Canesten pessary with the Balance Activ?

I'd say to see a doctor. Everyone's body responds differently to things. I tried going the natural route and self medicate but that just ended up making the infection worse. Just be careful of the treatments u do. Good luck!

I would suggest that you see a doctor.  If you really have BV, the doctor should check it and would give you a medication depending on the type of bacteria you have.  I was told that I have BV but comparing my symptoms with a lot of you who posted in this website, I only got itching.  I don't have any discharge nor bad odor that is described with this problem.  It's a feeling like as if hundreds of ants are attacking at the same time and it's no fun.  Very embarrassing if we're outside and it wakes me up at night too.  See your doctor as soon as possible.  Good luck.

Ive only experienced itching once before too. And what I did was continuising wipe myself with diluted tea tree oil and coconut oil and he itching went away. It doesn't burn, only tingles. Good luck if your still struggling with the itching!!

Can you tell me more about your experience?  Were you suffering from BV as well?  Doctor said I do but as I mentioned before, I only got the itch side to it.  I was prescribed Metronidazole 500 mg/7 days, itching stopped then but started on the 7th day again.  Slight itch, not like before but slowly got more again.  Then was prescribed Clindamycin cream 20 mg to insert at bedtime for 7 days.  Didn't make any difference since the itch didn't go away.  I started Boric Acid treatment last night and would have to do it for 21 days.  Still on the wait on what the result will be.  I also started taking probiotics and daily intake of homemade yogurt.  Were you using the tea tree oil and coconut oil to treat the itching specifically?  Was there no side effects to it after?  Any further info on this will be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I've only had bv for the past 2 months. I've tried the antibiotics and the prescribed cream and none of it worked. So, I cut out all sugar, coffee, alcohol, and carbs. The bacteria feeds off that and grows and sometimes that's why the problem doesn't go away. Diet is huge. I've had just the itch before with a yeast infection and tea tree oil and coconut oil made the itch go away. I noticed when I had alcohol or sugar I'd itch. The tea tree oil kills the bacteria in the skin and in the vj. It's a great antibacterial. I also take probiotics everyday and eat lots of plain yogurt. I started using rePHresh to rebalance out my ph. My gyno told me about rephresh. Definitely worth a try. I've been using the chlorophyll and been maintaining a high alkaline diet. And I barely have any discharge at all and no smell and a slight itch. It's definitely getting better everyday. Good luck!

    Hello Kyrin,

Have you ever been diagnosed for thrush by a doctor in the past?

Due to your persistant symptoms it is probably a good idea to go and get checked out by a doctor. They can check whether you have any other underlying conditions and make sure that you are given the correct medication. You may end up mixing medications which counteract eactother or even interact with eachother which could upset the delicate balance required to keep vaginas happy.

    Hope this helps.

      Hiya Justin,

I have been in the past. I have an abscess that I'm currently on a waiting list to get treated (ingrown hair on the pubic hair region). So I'm often on antibiotics to keep it at bay until the operation. Because of this, I'm well used to having thrush (unfortunately!!). The reason I think I might have both is because there's the odour, which has gone now thanks to balance Activ. Now I hurt have the same discharge and itchiness that comes with thrush. I'm going away to Thailand soon, so I'll just get this treated a long with my shots! But thank you for the reply!
