Bad anxiety and adrenaline rush

Hello all, I had a bit of anxiety last night. I was going to sleep and felt that weird jolt as you’re falling asleep and it shocked me and I started to focus on my heart beats. Obviously it sent my kind into a panic and could them feel my heart beat in my chest. So of course the adrenaline started and had a hard time falling asleep. When I finally did I slept well. Was good upon awaking and then as soon as I started to move around I get the jitters and focus on my heart beat yet again and can tell it’s rare is up a bit that norm from my Apple Watch. So that was about 5 hours ago and here I am still feeling jittery and super pumped up like I could run a marathon. Question is, is this normal with anxiety and does anyone else get this? It’s hard to get unfocused as ive tried breathing routines and am still paranoid and jittery focusing on my heart beats which I can still feel. The past few days I didn’t have this issue and when it started last night it was out of the blue. I took an Ativan to try to calm me down and they stare something I don’t want to get hooked on as I just started cipralex a week ago. I feel as though I’m going crazy lol.

Thanks

to clear the above up and to add firther info, i still feel super pumped and jittery as i weite this, heart rate still up about 10 beats higher than normal.

I had ecgs and echo chest xray done a few weeks and they said all is good and told me its all in my mind. its my second guessing and feeling this way thats causing it. i always have second thoughts which i know is normal with anxiety.

      Hey Sparky,

2 years ago i had my first panic attack, Was an absolute mess with symptoms and physiological problems. One of the many symptoms was that jolt as your going to sleep. this happened every single time my brain was trying to switch off to sleep. I had no option but to use zopiclone to switch off until my mind and body calmed down. All these symptoms are stress related. You must do your absolute best to calm your mind. Get outside for walks and try and take your mind off your symptoms. Easier said than done I know. But rest assured it is all anxiety. The brain can be your best friend of your worst enemy unfortunately.

Good luck you will get through this.

Ive been dealing with the same for 7 months, but I can say I'm 100 times better. I still get urges of rush here and there when I let my thoughts wander; however, I don't let get past that. My heart health was my biggest fear and symptom. I did a lot of tests but the 14-day holter monitor was enough to let me know that I was fine. I did the 24 hour and the EKG. My best advice is to let it go and let it come full force. Don't fear it or feel like you will lose control. You will live after each attack. If you continue fearing, it will continue getting worse. If your heart starts pounding and racing due to the tension and rush, so what. Let it beat fast... ignore it. Take a few deep breaths through your nose. You will get better!

To circle back around, letting it happen without giving it fuel with fear is key to getting better.

This was like reading about myself! I had the exact same thing every single night without fail for 3 months! It would take me 2 hours from when I put my head on the pillow until I fell into a deep sleep because i would be "jolting" over and over until eventually i would be so exhausted my body slept through it. crazy thing anxiety and stress
