Bad breath(fart).

So I've been experiencing BB for a few years now. Just like everyone else I've tried many things with no success. At first I thought it was my mouth but starting to believe it's something in my gut. I'm tired of getting "did you fart?" comments. Thing is I believe it's in my gut is because I've been suffering with bloating and passing gas all the time. So if I'm passing gas a lot and my breath smells like the exact same...there's got to be a connection. I notice it gets worse when my mouth is dry, which seems to be a lot of the time. Not sure that's due to my gut or because I'm always stressed/anxious around people and it dries my mouth out. Another thing is I think it may be linked to my MERCURY FILLINGS and wondering if anyone with BB here has fillings..? I've also noticed skin rashes that look like ringworms and uti's off and on. I went for a H Pylori test and waiting in results and I've been on the candida diet for about a month now and really not seeing a difference. Thing is I've not always had this. I've had many relationships and they were long lasting. It's hard to pin point the exact time when I started getting comments. Keep in mind it's been a handful only of comments, but those were enough to take precaution around people. I don't feel like it smells all the time, but when I exhale deeply or use certain letters like "H" and laughter. So please let me know if you have fillings, trying to find a connection. I know we can beat this. It's hard to function everyday, trust me I know. You can be handsome and rich and would t matter if you have fart breath. A mentally challenged person has better luck functioning in life than we do! I know talking helps, I've only briefly mentioned it to a doctor, but she was skeptical. I'm willing to keep in contact with people via phone or/and Facebook so we can support each other and figure this out together. It hurts to be alone. Thanks.

Hi everyone. I have the same issues. I have come to think I may have sibo. It's a overgrowth of bacteria in the small intestine. They can give you a antibiotic called xifaxan that is supposed to help. I am in my second round of it. I am set to get the breath test from a GI Dr to test for it. I will keep you posted. Do your research on sibo. Your breath issues are from your intestine or not breaking down for properly. DM me if you want to talk.

You are not the only one who is facing this problem. But here are some of the main causes of bad breath no brushing or irregular brushing, junk food, calculus bridge etc.

In most of the cases, calculus is the main cause of it. To learn all about calculus bridge you can seek help from here.

    Folks,

thought I had updated the discussion a few days ago, but my message seems to have disappeared! Anyway, the results came back negative for Giardia test - thiis was done through an endoscopy scraping, followed by lab analysis. The next thing i am booked in for is a lactulose breath test, which is done over a half day period with them regularly testing the breath. Should be interesting! Will let you know how I get on.

      Hey Paul,

I’ve also suffered with this for many years, which has been intermittent but as of recent it seems to be at its worst!

I had several appointments with doctors, and dentist to find a route cause but no solution...

Unfortunately with the NHS when being referred to various departments e.g. ENT, those appointments can take months to be seen for a consultation!

Most recently I have had an endoscopy which has come back clear (no obstructions).

The next step is to get a SIBO test (which is not commonly practised).

I will keep you updated with my results.

I have similar symptoms. Mine started six months ago when I started taking antibiotics for typhoid and I have never been the same since then. I had white coats on my tongue but now I know how to clear them efficiently but that never stops my mouth from smelling bad. I started seeing strange rushes on my stomach a month ago and I tested positive for H Pylori. My stomach is bloated and I fart a lot and it smells bad.Antibiotics doesn't seem to help...I feel like committing suicide because I have left my job as a lecturer.

      Hello,

      Hope you are well?

Would you say your symptoms make you think this diagnoses is a sinus issue or a gut issue?

I’ve been dealing with this on and off for almost 10 years and have been going around in circles with the doctors to find out what is the root cause; I.e. sinuses, gut or possibly lungs?

I’ve too truly had enough of not know what is causing this.

All I know is many factors can trigger it, wether that is food, drink, or smoke (in the past - shisha), or illness.

It used to not affect me as greatly as before but now that I’m older and trying to build a life this is become extremely difficult!

I do hope we all get some answers soon : )

I honestly think it might be a gut thing or bacteria. It could also be my tonsils I have enlarged tonsils. Its just to weird that seconds later after having meat or dairy the odor suddenly comes up it has to be in the gut.

I think mine is caused by both. Probiotics (kefir) has a 10% improvement effect while sinus rinse also has a 10% positive effect. I do a sinus rinse 4 times a day and makes sure my stomach is never empty.

I think I might have post nasal drip as well

Originally I believed this was a gut/ bacteria issue (still do). However as the years went on doing various test it moved onto sinuses and throat, which have been confirmed clear.

I've had my tonsils removed when I was a child, then had my adenoids removed 5 years ago. So there nothing being clogged up or trapped.

It so strange how the smell can vary, my diet is quite regular, I avoid dairy products, alcohol and have reduced my meat intake. But my breath can go from mild (ok) to severe (smell like sewage/ faeces).

It is hard to remain positive, but I'm determined to find a solution, or at least be able to manage it.

Ive done the stool test about 2 years ago the results were "normal" but i had slightly high bacteria they gave me a prescription did another stool test which reduced the amount. Within this time my breath had not changed, from there I did an endoscopy which again showed normal results no blockage or damage to my intestines. So now a year on Im still no further in this progress, my doctor has said its something I'll just have to manage!
