Bad Breath/reflux? pnd? infection? Something else?

Hi,
I wasn't sure where to put this duscussion.
I've had bad breath (especially horrendous morning breath) for as long as I can remember. Probably for a good 10 years or so? (I'm 29)
I've also experience what I think is possible post nasal drip (tongue is always coated. Often feel mucus on back of throat and need to clear my thoat)
and some sort of acid reflux in my throat (occasional burning sensation below my adams apple)
Both the possible PND and reflux seemed to come on after already having bad breath for a numbe of years though, so i'm not sure if they're even related? The reflux feeling is fairly infrequent.
I also occasionally get tonsil stones.
I have good oral health. Brush twice per day, floss, moutwash. Dentist confirmed gums are healthy.
Yet I can taste bad breath coming on again shortly after my morning routine.
NOW, I recently took metronidazole for something completely unrelated, and to my utter amazement, my breath became as fresh as a babies! Reflief after a decade! Even my morning breath smelt of nothing.
I was so happy until I read online that other people had experienced this phenomenen, but that the bad breath returns when you stop taking the antibiotic.
I stopped taking it 4 days ago, and I think that my breath may finally be reverting back This morning wasn't quite as fresh as yesterdays. I'm depressed now that my bad breath is likely to return in full force within a few days.
I'm wondering if anyone can shed any light?
Anyone been in the same boat and found a cure?
Can any knowledge be gained from the fact that the antibiotic temporaily cured me or not?

You see james the thing with us BB sufferers we tend to think that there is a magic overnight cure,we start therapy and discontinue it after a short period of time thinking that it is not working( only to find that it actually was working it just needed a bit more time- think about it- you tell me you've been having BB for 10 years and you think the cure will happen overnight?? possible but impractical). To answer your question Yes, 1).pantoprazole and omerprazole is the same thing, I've been on double dose for 2 months, I'm on my third month and 2).it is working( with a combination of oil pulling, low carb diet, *stage 2 saline nasal irrigation with Hydrogen Peroxide, how do I know????- The bad breath I had before was Severe and I had an acidic dirty taste and feel in the mouth, sinuses and throat but now, it's bad but not severe and there's no longer the acidic taste which initself smelled very bad.
Here's what I'm thinking of doing going forth- iv had enuf! i want to look at the concept of candida, have a thorough scope of the throat and esophagus to see if all is still ok, have a look at the concept of mononucleosis, get tested for TMAU and continue LPR therapy.
Turbinectomy - check ☑
Tonsillectomy- check ☑
Adenoidectomy- check ☑
Wisdom tooth extraction- check ☑
Blood tests- no pathogens- check ☑
Hpylori- positive- quadruple therapy- negative- check ☑
Diet and exercise - low carb- check ☑
Dentist- healthy teeth and gums- check ☑
DGL licorice- check ☑
GSE- check ☑
Hydrogen Peroxide -check ☑
Stage 2 Nasal irrigation- check ☑
Lost my confidence- check ☑
LPR- on therapy
Candida- pending
Mononucleosis- pending
TMAU- pending
Losing my mind- pending

Ive always respected the concept of probiotics! (think about it-1. I'm sure many of us used a lot of antibiotics growing up and washed away all the gram+(good) bacteria and never replaced them now we are suffering the consequences 2. probiotics will assist in getting rid of all
the junk in your gut. hence I take an 8 strain powerful refrigerated probiotics, is it eradicating the bad breath- I'm not so sure- maybe it is at a very slow rate, is it improving my other health areas? definitely it makes me feel great, even though it is not directly targeted at bad breath I respect the whole concept so much that I won't stop using them as long as I live.
As for the concept of gastric reflux be it GERD or LPR, absolutely, I've got a ton of respect for the concept as well- think about it- the funky acidic taste in the mouth, the famous PND, sinus issues etc..u see the link, all this is a result of the acids that shoots up the esophagus even all the way up to the sinuses and causes irritation resulting in PND then BB. Makes perfect sence and that is why I am currently on LPR therapy.

I use a brand called Udo's choice super 8 probiotics (u can Google it). Refrigerated probiotics are being refrigerated because they contain live organisms and are known to be more stronger than non-refridgerated ones. There's no other significant reason.

If you cannot find the specific brand in your area, you do not have to go all out, a different refrigerated brand would do jst as good even better.

Sorry about the delayed reply,
How did you get with your gastro appointment?
The two products I said about before Gastone and Interfresh did not give a any significant improvements for me.
I have however seen my GP again who prescribe 10mg of Amitriptyline for IBS/Gastro symptoms. When I first took it, it certainly seemed like a big step in the right direction, I have found when taking it that I am alot less bloated, I sleep alot better, my PND is better, I have more energy and there is an improvement with my BB, I would say is gone from severe to moderate. The down side is that my body seems to be building a tolerance to it, i.e it is not as effective now as it was initially. It should also be noted that this does caus e slower digestion (which is what I'm trying to avoid). I will when I get the time look for an equivalent (maybe something which doesn't decrease digestion), and look into the how and why the drug works.
I am also taking a 5 htp supplimment, which has been good for a deeper more restorative sleep and putting me in a better mood. Which I think is probably quite useful when trying to improve general health.
I am also interested in another drug called Prucalopride, it's a prokinetic drug used for motility problems and constipation where other drugs have failed. My understand is that it stimulates muscle contractions in the stomach to increase digestive transit. My thoughts are that if the food is moving more quickly in the right direction that it may decrease the chances of reflux and regurgitation. Has anyone else come accross this or have any thoughts on this?
Other than that I am,
Chewing and swalowing peppermint oil capsules, (chewing them gives quite a strong minty flavor which does mask the bb temporarily.
Rinsing sinuses with saline solution,
Taking probotics and aleo vera tablebs for better digestion,
Keeping active and exercising.
Eating healthy,
Try to reduce stress levels as much as practically possible under the circumstanes.
i have tried brushing with vineagar but it only provides very temporary relief.
Hope this helps.
Thanks Brandon for your post, good to know.
Is anyone else making any progress?

GI said that i need to add more fiber not just to drink but eat fruits/veg that have it.
Otherwise, even if you eliminate daily you want to make sure it's complete.
* I have a tiny hernia. I'm told that doesn't matter on the BB by gastro but I will ask on how to test & find out if this had changed in size.

I've had a simlilar test done for acid reflux which came back clear as well. I did another test at the same time which measures the effectiveness of sphincter at the top of the stomach and those results were fine as well. But that test was done after not eating for about 16 hours and when I was sat still and not active which is representative of a normal day for me.
A lot of my bb smells like food or decomposing food which makes me think whether food is getting stuck in my esophagus or if there's small pocket that the food collects in?! Another theory is that some of the food/drink i swallow gets forced a short distance up the passage that connects the nose to throat and sticks there?!
I had a glass of red wine last night just before I went to bed and when I cleared the mucus from my nose in the morning it was a dark purple colour, this has happened a few times before as well (not every time I a glass though). If this is happening it would give all the symptoms of reflux! I may try proving it having a glass of water with some food colouring in before bed for a month or so.
I found eating mainly veg and some fruit does help a bit, also cutting down on portion size and not eating for a good few hours before bed may help.

my BB smells like vomit or decomposing food or animal. It depends on the day. It's so embarrassing. Also any movement makes the odor surface. Even walking fast or drinkingwater makes it worse. Told him all this. I'm desperate to get better to start work again. On my birthday a week ago. I finally went out to socialize w friends & had a drink. I have drank in all this time. My bb smelled like vomit even though I didn't. I hope we get closer & faster to answers bc living w this is complicated.
Recently, Since I started adding more things to eat that will give me mucus.I feel a bit better. All this time I didn't have mucus bc I was not eating certain things. Now I'm gradually building it & know that mucus was not giving me BB bc I lacked it.
