Hi Margaaet;  I don't have your condition (thank goodness), but am really feeling for anyone that does, as although there are sooo many times that I get angry/upset with myself for what I do have (Osteo and Fibro);; reading about you guys, it makes me think of what I could have, and appreciate that I don't....The GCA is  really a bummer, and it would really be a worry as the way you people describe your pain and all the symptoms....sounds horrible.  I do hope that you find some relief sometime soon...Bron

Margaret, although we always recommend people to have immediate medical checks if they mention blurred vision, especially whilst suffering from PMR, it is possible that your "pins and needles" and "blurred" vision is being caused by the Prednisolone itself.  There are 80+ possible listed side effects from Prednisolone, and both pins/needles/blurring of vision are up there with them.  Likewise your skin irritation.  Luckily no-one gets all the possible side effects - a few lucky people get none.  But if these are such side effects that you are experiencing, annoying as they are, please be reassured that they will disappear as you reduce the dose.

thank you Mrs O, i read on this forum that some took the antisimine at  night, since thats when i seem to have more problems i thought why not do it, so last night i did and the redness and itching went, got up this morning after having a good sleep(walked my legs off in Hebden Bridge)and only some redness on neck and throat, regarding the pins and needles i have taken on board what you have said.

So once agin thank you for calming me down

      Regards Margaret

I don't know what you mean by a throat and chest flare up, have you been having problems? I had blurred vision when I first started pred, it only lasted a few months though. The pins and needles tingling feeling seems to have stayed and can be really annoying.

Hi Margaret I am so sorry that you are having a tough time at the moment .i get blurred eyes at the moment ,some days are worse than others .Unfortunately I have read that the side affects of pred. can be dry eyes .I have found eye drops thet I have got from an optician after telling her what I have ,helps .Also when focusing on this horrible PMR I find my self unknowingly tensing up which can give me pins and needle or even cramp in some scared places especially in the middle of the night ,when this happens I get up and make a hot drink and sit some where quiet and concentrate on my breathing ,make sure you are cosy and warm though ,as I rember you saying the other day you had had some snow and how pretty it al was ..I believe the weather is going to turn windy wear you are so keep warm Carol

Hi Margaret ,for some reason my message wasn't let through until the moderator had checked it .At least they let it through today .I cannot see any thing wrong with it but who am I to wonder why .

Its what I call a shattered day today .First time we have stayed with friends since my diagnosis last November and I didn't realise how tiring it could be . I had to put my tablets up again by half a mg .i had dropped the dose 2weeks before we went to see them thinking I could stay at that level while we were away ,but just before we went I started neck shoulder pain again so up the dose went .Anyhow one week on have dropped half mg again so now back to 11.5 mg .yesterday and Saturday did a bit of gardening nothing to heavy but obviously to much .Shakes a bit today feel warn out really but no return of pain as yet so fingers crossed .Was awake unti 3am  this morning  though , with the noise of the wind I live in hertfordshire on the side of a valley and the wind was certainly whipping around us .Have a senile cat who just stood up all the time terrified .i do  notice , when I type on my I pad or lap top that the eyes get sagnicantly worse (as in blurry ) I use to be a draughtswaman and drew on great big drawing boards and halfway through the same blury vision would happen, and the optician told me its not blinking enough ,and the eye dry out .So assume as the vision is blurry with a few dots and dashes which I have had for some months now can only be attributed to the pred .i have read the book your reading PMR and found it very informative ,but also found it a bit scared as to (what ifs and maybe). So I treat it more like a reference book ,on a sort of need to know basis now ,as I am sorry to say I tend to look probably to the worse case senario .

Hope your feeling a bit better when you read this and a third surprise of the washing machine variety hasn't come your way ,take care Carol

I think it may have been typos so there was a full stop before a letter with no space - that triggers the computer screening that it could be a link to the internet which must be checked.
