After visiting my Consultant for a steroid injection last week my knee was doing great, nearly got my confidence back.

Consultant told me to go back to physio to update on my strengthening exercises. well physio asked me to stand up without using my arms, and the pain across my knee cap with awful.I am now really suffering, using ice and elevating, but what has she done?????

im supposed to go back for more exercises, but very unsure, very miserable now.

any comments/advice please .

thanks

i think some of those physios push you to hard. i heard several ppl say they did more harm than good. dont be afraid to tell them you cant do something.

If it were me I would call my surgeon IMMEDIATELY!!!. What did she say when you stood up and hurt yourself? Was it because your knee wouldn't bend? My knee will get stiff and if I stand up it feels like under the skin is ripping. How far out from your TKR are you or did you have the surgery yet?

Ice is good. Wouldn't be able to get around without it and don't forget to elevate your leg too.

Take care and let t us know you come out .

    Hi Madelaine,

I had a total knee replacement 9 weeks ago and have physio exercises to do twice daily. The exercises were supervised during my hospital stay and I also had a twice weekly visit by my Physiotherapist once home from hospital. Doing the physio was painful but pain ceased once i stopped. There were some exercises which were so painful that i went pale and felt faint. I told the Physiotherapist of the pain and he told me not to continue. His comment was listen to your body, is the pain muscular or joint pain?

Please tell the Physiotherapist about the pain and if you are not happy, find another Physio.

I am still recovering and have good days and bad days.

This group has really helped me to cope. I now know what I going through is normal.

    Good Luck with your recovery.

    Kind Regards,

    Jenny

Have you had a knee replacement? wouldnt think so if you have a steroid injection. I think a lot of physios are useless , push too hard . If you havent had a knee op and having injections to help pain then they dont keep working , and I was told the do damage
