Bad urinalysis

I did labs yesterday for an upcoming yearly physical.  My Dr. called this a.m. after she received results & said that my urine showed increased white blood cells as well as bacteria.  I've never had any urinary tract infections, etc., so I'm wondering if LS can cause increased white blood cells & bacteria in the urine?  Thanks for your input.

Hi Patricia I believe it is quite common to have UTI's with LS. That is how I came to be first diagnosed.

    Hey Patricia,

It’s not that the LS is causing the increased white blood cells but more the other way around. Your immune system is what is in charge of creating white blood cells and your immune system is causing your LS. I also have LS and I’ve had blood taken and my white blood cells were very high as well which implies my immune system is fighting something but in the process it’s literally attacking my own body and causing my LS.

This last year I had four UTI's one after the other.  Fortunately, I started taking cranberry capsules daily and (touch wood) I seem to be doing okay now.

I had similar labs and they sent for culture and was just fine. Sometimes happens. My numbers weren’t all that high for white blood cells though. So glad they didn’t start meds prematurely. Good luck hun.

This happened to me a few times, if you are having an outbreak or a lot of inflammation or any ulcerations it can cause those results.

Many people on here mention UTIs and the link with LS. Firstly, I think UTIs are common in women, whether you have LS or not. Secondly, my theory for why we might get them is because we're applying creams, oils and ointments, doing soaks, etc. All this can transfer the bacteria into the urethra, even if you have just washed the area beforehand.

I hope you heal soon, Patricia.
