My father had bald hair I'm afraid I will get affected and also when I'm a baby I had problem growing hair which resulted to them putting olive oil on my hair ! What should I do

    Hi Peiiliing,

Baldness can run in families and so there is a chance that you could develop it. If you have a bald patch and are concerned about it then you might want to try some form of treatment. There are lots of different products on the market which can help stimulate hair growth. You can buy some of them over the counter in a pharmacy and even a supermarket or there are other prescription medications available also such as propecia. It might be worth giving one of them a try to begin with.

Your recent baldness wont have been caused by the use of olive oil on your hair as a baby. This is quite normal and many parents use olive oil to help with cradle cap.

    Hope this helps.

Since you have had a bald spot for  at least 4 years, I would see a dermatologist who can assess your scalp & check for any possible skin causes like ringworm or  growth of  fungal or yeast infections. Also good to get a spot check to be sure you do not have any actinic keratosis. Good luck!
