Ballbearing-sized lump under skin on labia minora

Hello,

I noticed a small, rounded lump on my inner labia. It's on the edge of the lip, about half way up. It's under the skin and can be pinched and moved with the lip itself. It doesn't hurt as such, though maybe a little tender at times. It's not red or sore looking. It's about 5mm across. It's soft-ish yet defined. The best way to describe it is that it's sort of at the tip of the lip, sort of where it folds if that makes sense. I noticed it a week ago. I'm not sure if the location is right for a Bartholin's cyst, though it might be that. It doesn't have a head on it either. I'm 45 by the way.

Any ideas please?

It could be a cyst that will eventually come to a head or it could be a tiny fatty lump that will come to nothing. Bartholins glands are usually pea sized, so that would be the starting size of any B cysts. They are situated either side of the vagina at the posterior end. ie the end nearer the perineum/anus.

If the lump is not bothering you in any way then just leave well alone. However if it starts to become bigger/red and painful/tender it may be time to talk to your doctor.

      Thank you, Marina.

I think its too high to be a bartholin's cyst and too small as well. I'll see what happens with it in the next few weeks.

    Hi Fiona,

It does not sound like a Bartholin's cysts to me as someone said here. More like a fatty lump or cysts. Advice given to wait and see is good. Check daily. keep it clean but no body washes.
