Balloon dilation of eustachian tube blockage

Hi, I suffered from eustachian tube dysfunction since I got a serious sinusitis and a cold last September. I saw coutless ear and throat doctors and took numerous medicines but cannot unblock my ears. I am doing exercise, massage, sunna and eating healthy food but no cure. I searched Internet and found many medicial reports about the balloon dilation surgery, and it seem it can successfully open the eustachian tube without significant complications. I am considering to do it if my tubes are still block 3 months later.

Did anyone do this surgery before ? Pls kindly share your experience with us? A lot of thanks!

I had the eustachian tube balloon dilation procedure done yesterday. before surgery, both of my ears were clicking and full. when I woke up from surgery both of them were then completely closed. I am now 28 hours post-op and every now and then they'll click a little bit but not as well as they did before surgery. I am told it's because of inflammation. There has to be inflammation because I'm blowing blood out my nose and coughing up a bit from my throat due to the breathing tube placed during surgery. so I'm hoping within the next few weeks I will notice a Drastic change! I'll let you all know how it goes.

Praying the inflammation goes down quick. Please continue to give us updates on your healing.

I had this procedure down in April and sadly it didn't work for me.

Try not to blow your nose very hard.  I blew my nose after surgery and it blocked up one of my ears for a while.....it did re open, but be careful..wishing u the best in recovery!

Hi I am 26 years old and just did the surgery this morning at the North Shore Private under Dr Nirmal Patel, a true pioneer in his industry. I am a little concerned with what to expect in the coming days however the specialist advised that I was a success. Any information would be helpful. I hope your well and thanks in advance.

I had this surgery 6 yrs ago and it was successful. Have your symptoms gone away?  My advice to anyone having this surgery is to not blow your nose too hard, and just be a little careful while you are healing.. i hope this is your answer!!! Keep everyone posted!

    Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum, and I'm experiencing this same nagging ETD.  It happened three months ago for me and it fluctuates open/close for me constantly.  Any one has advise on what might trigger relapses of ETD?  Cold or hot temperature?  I often experience music instrument and hair dryer will trigger closing of my Eustachian Tube.

Also, I'm new to the Balloon Dilation procedure.  Does this new procedure replace the Myringotomy procedure?  Any side effects from Balloon Dilation procedure?

    Your help is much appreciated!

    Have a blessed day.

    ?-Jean
