Banding #2

Hi all,
I just had my 2nd banding on April 12th. It felt pinched that day and I felt pretty great that afternoon. My experience from the 1st one prepared me for #2. I knew it would hurt for about a week or even two. On day 6 it is the worst!! I'm not sure what it was but it felt like there was a monster haemorrhoid trying to get out. (Same as with first banding) Only this time I didn't freak out because I knew the time table. You can be pretty sure that your doctor who may tell you that some patients say they went right back to work that afternoon, has never had this procedure. That was my big takeaway! They don't know. On day 6, I did sitz baths, ice. For the previous 5 days, I took some homeopathic remedies like Arnica (pain and brusing) and Hypernicum (nerve pain) and it was helpful. But on day six I felt desperate. Same as day 6 on the first banding. I eventually took 4 Advil and went to sleep deciding that it would all fall back into place when I woke up the next morning and it did. Just like last time!! I have one more banding to go and THE END! I felt a good difference only having 2 hemorrhoids instead of 3 and now I can feel the difference only having 1 left. Yes, it was painful. No, the doctor had no idea what it was like. On Wednesday April 27th it will be 2 weeks and I am much better and feel like I will be even better on Wed. Don't freak out - I did for the first one - because it does get better in time. However, do not believe your Dr. who may tell you some of her/his patients go back to work that afternoon. The next day I could barely sit in my car to take my dog to my friends for a play date and once I drove there I was wishing hard that my car would just fly back to my garage with me in it. I'm talking about a 10 minute drive each way!! I have not discussed my hemorrhoids with anyone but my partner, my acupuncurist, and my most magical healer friend. It's awkward to talk.
If someone talks about hemorrhoids (hardly ever happens) I'd be happy to chime in. Do you?

I'm terrified about some of the procedures. I have been suffering from excruciating pain for 5 weeks. Initial appointment was April 11 that was worthless except getting a appt with a gastroenterologist on the 21st, that got me on a waiting list to see a surgeon. Meanwhile I ended up in emergency room today in desperation for some relief . I get sent home with a RX for Rectin0.4% and still waiting for a surgeon to see me. Feeling hopeless , missed another day of work today. I'm worried about my job, but I am really struggling to get through a day. LAst night was sleepless because of constant pain. It appears there is nothing to remedy this pain. I am not myself anymore I'm very depressed and hopeless

Once you get to the Dr. you will know more that you can share. We can't guess what your problem is. But once you know, we can tell you what has worked for us. Don't be terrified because I think stress is a great irritator of butt issues. Not to mention, not enough water, not enough fiber, and eating bad food. Good luck.

Today is 2 weeks since my 2nd banding, Still itchy and sore during poops. I feel like it's getting better every day. Sometimes it feels like I sat on a toothpick. If i'm doing something that requires a lot of sitting I take 3 Advil, which works beautifully. 4 weeks until my 3rd and final banding. Stay tuned...

Now it's been 3 weeks since Banding #2. I think I'm much better but in some ways it's still sore and itchy! The itchy has gotten better from last week but still there. I'm not happy sitting for very long. By the time it's all gone it will time for #3 and that will be the end of it. Pooping is still burning but that gets better by the day also.

Then again, it is still better to go through the pain whatever they are because the hemorrhoids are just going to get worst and when it does..it might be too late.

I'm in my 5th week for #2 and it's still bothersome but not really painful. I have one left and in two weeks it's banded. For the first one, I was pretty freaked out since my Dr. said some people go back to work in the afternoon. On the second one I realized and said to her, you've never had banding, I can tell, or you wouldn't be saying what a breeze it is.
One thing I'm sure of is that stress makes hemorrhoids even worse. Most people on this blog are doing ectomy's. When I was looking for info there wasn't any banding. I wonder why people don't do that first. I get it if you have external, you can't but for internal you can. Plus some do several at once. My Dr said one at a time with 6 weeks in between.

I was not scared, I just thought I don't want to have this for the rest of my life and went for it. As of today, I'm approaching my 6th week post 2nd banding and I have one more to go. From my experience, it takes 4 weeks until the discomfort passes. Now I will have a couple of weeks until my 3rd and final. My doctor told me that some people go back to work that same afternoon. After the 1st banding, which freaked me out, because I certainly could not go back to work, and it was very painful to drive. That alerted me to the fact that my doctor never had banding. My doctor does one every 6 weeks, which is probably the right timing, She will not do more than one at a time. I'm happy I'm doing it and will be happiest when it's finished. Just do it and be happy, like me, that you don't have to have a hemorroidectomy.
