Hello, I was diagnosed with Barretts following an endoscopy in 2015, I had biopsies taken. I had a further endoscopy in 2017 which showed the Barretts had not increased in size and again biopsies were taken that showed no cancerous cells present. I was also diagnosed this time with a hiatus hernia which I guessed I had.
Initially I was on Pantoprazole 40mg twice a day but with the specialist advice this was reduced to 40mg once a day. I also have IBS (not severe) which I have had since I was 17, I'm now 60.
For me the pain and discomfort from Barratts has not got worse, I do have spells when it was very uncomfortable especially with the reflux / belching and associated pains. But this eventually clears. If I am careful with what I eat and the amount and times of the day I can get through it ok. I have had to stop fried or spicy foods, no alcohol, very limited caffeine, no orange or lime (citrus) and no chocolate. There are plenty of other options so it is not too much of a struggle. I find the IBS more of a problem.
I hope you find a solution that works for you and your Barretts settles down.

I was also diagnosed with Barrett’s in 2015. After the firs biopsies I was in a lot of pain and started bleeding down below. I went to the A & E and was admitted to hospital. I was in for three days before the bleeding stopped. I was on Warfarin but wasn’t on any medication for Acid Reflux. I think you should go back to either your GP or the Consultant re the pain.

I have had a flair up of my Barrett's and have been nauseous and reguritating
food for 16 months. . My consultant won't do an operation
because of my heart condition. He says an operation
might not work anyway. In April my weight was so low, 6st 9lbs he
suggested that I needed a food pipe fitted. I declined this
My GP was also worried. She suggested different medication.
I am now on Lasoparorite 30 mgs before breakfast.Ranitidine 150
mgs twice a day and Cyclizine 50 mgs. (These are anti sickness
tablets.) At first it was a miracle cure and I was able to eat
normally and put on a stone in weight. But now although I
still eating more I am getting a lot of phlegm in my mouth. any ideas
on how to stop this. By the way I have an inflamed Barret's oesophagoes
and a sliding hiatus hernia but my Barret's isn't Cancerous. I
am 74 years old.

Rosemary.
I see that you posted two years ago that you were taking anti sickness tablets along with your medication. Did they help? I am having problems with nausea with different medications and I fear I'll run out of options.
I was diagnosed two years ago with BE, no cancer thank God.
My recent endoscopy showed no acute inflammation but chronic inflammation still remains.
I've always been bad at taking tablets, 70 years of age, just looking for ways around dealing with the side effects of PPIs.

Unfortunately the anti sickness tablets only helped for a short time. I am now unable to swallow solid food very well at all.
I get very depressed with it. I had a blood test recently and have low Calcium level and low Folic Acid. i dont think anything more can be done. At least I'm not loosing any more weight. i weigh just under 8 stone.

Thanks for replying Rosemary,
I'm in a mess myself, can't get PPI or H2 Blocker which doesn't cause major side effects. Ranitidine twice a day was agreeing with me. My consultant is expert in this field but not one for reassurance.
My anxiety is going through the roof, I have absolutely no symptoms of acid reflux just the ongoing problems with trying to find medication that I can tolerate.
Are you taking medication yourself at the moment?
