How long one should have to stay in hospital generally. Just wondering if the gland is removed from one side...can the cyst start coming back in other side in most cases.chances are less or high that it can reoccur on.other side

Hi Veena🙂 Generally this procedure doesn’t require any inpatient hospital stay. My gland was removed in my Drs office under NO ANESTHESIA (which should have been “local anesthesia”) I also had a “Werd Catheter” inserted inside the gland that was required to stay for appx 14 days. The catheter allows drainage but also creates a new gland opening for normal drainage. Sometimes depending upon the severity of the situation outpatient surgery can be required. My mother was put under general anesthesia in outpatient surgery. Her gland had been with her for appx 25 years if not longer. My mother had her entire gland removed. The size of her gland was about the size of a orange/grapefruit. So to give you an idea on the type of situation that may  require inpatient surgery. Good Luck with your situation. Angela
