Bartholin abscess x3

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hello all, my first post here and I write out of pure frustration. I've had a Bartholin abscess three times since October 2019 - essentially every two months.

First and second were treated with Flucloxacillin and I'm currently experiencing my third bout. Back on Flucloxacillin. Gynae doctors are incredibly reluctant to do a marsupialisation.

Their logic is that a) I respond to antibiotics and b) marsupialisation is rarely successful permanently. I've argued that my quality of life is affected having it so often, I'm unable to work when it's bad and each time I have a full blown infection, I'm at risk of septicemia. Has anyone had a similar experience to this?

im suprised they wont do any surgery on it but i do agree that it doesnt always work and came bsck for me within a month or 2 both times (i had the surgery twice now). ) here is mine and this wasnt even infected at this point , they only did surgery on mine when it was the size of an orange rather than a grape like here. the surgery was horrible and recovery was long and painful so only request it if you really dont think you can take antibiotics any longerimage

I struggled with mine for ten years. It would show up a 3 or 4 times a year sometimes it would get infected but not always. I had the many lancings, antibiotics and two Marsupializations. Nothing worked and I had total gland removal 6 months ago and the recovery was brutal but no sign of it since then. Finally have a normal sex life after a decade. Find a good doctor I went through a few before I found one that would do something serious about it. Good luck!
