Bartholin cyst and period

I have been taking care of this cyst for a week now and I just got my period and I was scared that it was going to get bigger because of it and it did. I took a sitz bath today to help it heal and my period lasts about 3-4 days. Anyways, can someone give me some other advice on the treatment and whether I should keep doing the sitz bath because I have also done the warm cloth treatment. Also, I'm not sure how long this cyst will last but I am going to Adventure Island at the end of the month and I was wondering if like any of the water there might affect it in any negative way because I have never been there before.

Have you been to the Drs yet?

As they don't know what causes these cysts, I don't think water at a water park would do anything negative to your gland or cause a reoccurance. Keep doing your sitz baths and hopefully it bursts soon for you!

Thanks. So I squeezed and I saw in some forums that people have done it as well. I got this like fluid that you would get if you popped a pimple and blood came out and I kept squeezing until all the blood came out so I wouldn't risk myself and infection. This is the last time I'm going to squeeze cause I don't want to risk anymore. Was it wrong is if i did that?

    Hi Joanna,

I was similar to you, I had it for a week and my period arrived and it got worse.

Bathing should help keep the area clean even if it does nothing to help the cyst drain.

Baths and compresses did nothing for me and last week I ended up in hospital having a marsupialization.  I was given a general anesthetic and felt nothing.  I've not needed pain killers since, and the most painful thing was passing urine at first but that goes quickly. If i was to do it all again, I'd opt for this procedure quicker instead of putting it off.  By far more relaxing to be able to walk, sit, and sleep!

They see this quite a lot in hospital and are very experienced in dealing with it.

Hope yours settles down soon on its own but if not, don't be scared, the docs will fix you up smile
