I was in vacation and it completely ruined it sad I am separate to get some help and feel healthy again. Also, I have read that it takes almost a year to fully recover, can you please share your experience? Daily activities, inter course etc? Also how much was the surgery? My insurance won't pay for it so I have to pay out of my pocket rolleyes

I didn't have the gland removed, but I had the cyst surgically removed. Most of my recovery only took a couple of days, although intercourse is still a little uncomfortable (9 weeks, now). That surgery ran $18k, I'd imagine the gland removal would be close in cost. I can't believe your insurance won't cover it!

You had it drained? I had it drained yesterday and now recovering, and 18k?! Omg that so much, yeah it won't cover it pretty bummed about this whole thing.

No, i had it drained five times and eventually found a doctor to surgically removed just the cyst sack, it's a much bigger ordeal than draining it, more comparable to the gland removal.

    Hi Stephanie!

I have had my glands removed on both sides as they were both giving me trouble. It has been great! But the original doctor who did it left parts of the gland so the cysts returned...so I had to have a second gland removal surgery from another doctor. So please make sure your doctor has a lot of experience. You don't want to go through recovery in order to go through it all over again.

I had mine done in turkey and the procedure costed about $1500-$2000.

Full recovery takes about 6 weeks, but you're able to walk around after about a week. I don't recommend walking around if possible though...and definitely avoid stairs! I would recommend taking 2 weeks off work (doctors tend to minimize this by saying you can go back to work after 4 days...fight for a 2 week doctors note!).

As for sex...you will know when you're ready again, but do not do it for at least 4-5 weeks...I waited until I was fully healed to try it.

These things really ruin lives, but if you bear through the healing part, hopefully you will never get them again!

It was no problem...I think you can even have it removed when there is no abscess, bc the cysts is still there. Maybe it's even easier for a doctor to find since there's no infection in the way...ask your doctor...it's better that way because then you can schedule when you will heal smile

      Stay positive! Good luck!

Hey, is there any side effects from the removing of the gland? I was told by my dr to get mine removed but I am really scared.
