HI sharon,
I just had mid-foot surgery on 6/29/16 with taking an allograft (self) bone from my ankle. I chose that instead of the synsthetic as the synthetic has been shown internally in spines to have a 25% chance of cancer. The Dr informed me, no wt bearing for @l east 3 months. It's very frustrating since I am very independent and active. Remember this is a foot as opposed to a hand and every Dr is different. I was sick of having pain (5 yrs). Just explain your occupation in depth and listen to his answer, then ask your self if it's worth it for you! Please let me know how it turns out and do't hesitate to ask any questions as I am a RN also.
With Kind Regards,
Mary

I had cmc arthroplasy several years ago and had a fabulous outcome. The most difficult part was the cast. I had mine on for a solid six weeks. It was worth it and post op was a breeze. I also worked in medicine so was limited
With my time to return. Hand washing was the biggest issue.
i don't know why folks don't do the procedure. I couldn't hold a pen, start an I.v. Line or knit. Alls great know. Do it!
