I was allowed to shower while still in hospital but do not remember anything about time scale for baths.
Cheers Richard

Hi You should be able to have a bath when the stitches have been taken out. Please make sure that you place an anti slip mat in the bath ,also don't lock the door & make sure you have someone around. But enjoy your bath.regards Amanda

Around six weeks I was seen for the last time by my consultant, had my stitches out, started driving, returned to work and found I could feel safe lifting my legs in and out of my bath which has an overhead shower. However I don't think I would have been happy lowering myself down into the bath. I know you can get raised seats but I would not have tried it. Hope there is someone who knows about baths. Good luck! sylvia

Hi Johnny. Funnily enough, this is something Ive been having issues with this week. When I came from hospital, I was assured ' the rapid response team ' would be coming to help me, as I live alone. I waited 4 weeks then phoned social services to see if they'd got lost!( I'm in uk). I told them I've been using soap and water and baby wipes but now wanted a bath . I mentioned that I would like an electric bath chair. Because they messed up big time with my care package, they are sending one for me in the next day or so.
These things are available in uk but of course, no one tells you this.
so looking forward to a bath!

Hi Carol, where are you? I had No help from Rapid response team,I was in tears when they said oh no we don't make beds! My Husband is Disabled & I has a care package for him but nothing for me at all.Husbands social worker was furious that I was asking the carers to microwave my supper.!! So sorry to tell you but you need to Scream at people to get anywhere. Also for me because I had No care for me I have a failed hip replacement. Regards Amanda

Dear Amanda
I can sympathise with you having had zilch support from so called Rapid Responce. Totally useless. Left on my own to get on with it all but I've survived!
Best wishes Richard

Hi where are you based? I am near Guildford.Rapid support where useless. They even sent a male carer here at 07.30 am on my first morning home. When I was dosing & didn't need to get up at that hour.My husband's social worker was absolutely fuming with me for bouncing off on his carers! They were willing. To help me& saw me struggle.Regards Amanda

Hello Amanda. I'm in Bexleyheath, Kent
social services really haven't helped at all. Coping alone hasn't been easy but I had done a lot of preparing before op. That really helped.

I had my op 10th June, I'm driving etc, I was showering the day after my op. The only bath issue is the bending over 90 degrees. I feel like I will be fine but just wanted to know if anyone else had been ok..

Hi Johnny, I used the shower over our bath from day 3. Used a series of kid's plastic steps to get in and out, and my crutches.... I didn't have a bath until 3 months, found it quite hard getting in and out, though if you have grab bars on your bath I imagine it would be much easier. Good luck.
