I havnt had a bath / long hot soak for 10 months..
i just can not get in and out the bath and no shower at home so just got to cope how I can I could plat my pit hair ( yuck ) my legs look like the Black Forest has taken over ( yuck ) and there is no way I have time to write how I go about getting clean ( very inventive it is though ) and it involves a very large paddling pool

Totally hear you, but Im lucky as I could shower from Day 3. If Im honest I didnt have a bath, which I prefer until about 12 weeks but that was perhaps cos Im a scaredy cat and I could shower. So maybe other hippies will give you better advice 😀. Topping and tailing is fine and I used aquarous cream a lot on my body and for the bits I couldnt reach I made do with a old toothbrush (!) covered with part of a towelling blind cover (!)
You do need to listen to your body though because its not just getting in to the bath, the man problem is getting out!!

The rcs guide that you can find in the useful links at the top of the forum suggests that you try getting in and out of the bath fully clothed (without water in!) with help, to see how you manage without compromising your new hip and the 90 degree rule. I know how it becomes such a big deal after having to top & tail after a time. I had a shower over bath that was not approved by occupational health, but I still went ahead with no ill effects.
Take care & good luck.

Greetings from Exeter...
For me 6 weeks and an hour...gently lowering me into the bath. Pretty straight forward...and what the physio at my pre operation advised as fine providing no compilations. Yes my wife was around outside in case I was in trouble...but all she did was to wash my back.
So...Baths are lovely...good luck when you are ready!

I had a bath at 5 weeks post op and have had many more since. My scar was totally healed so l did not see it being an issue and it was not. I love my baths just be careful getting in if you choose to have one . I have never felt so releived to have a long soak.
Good Luck x
