I just started BCP Junel for peri issues and am having heartburn since starting. Will this go away as my body adjusts?

I do think it's helping so far as it has only been a few days but I feel pretty good overall. It is the heartburn that is bad and I know it is the hormones.

    HI

I also take BC pills for peri symptoms but I don't have the heartburn from it that you have. I did have heartburn around Xmas time (that was not related to BCP) and I took over the counter Nexium for 2 weeks and it went away completely.

Good luck. The BCP have def. helped me with the peri symptoms!

Thank you for the reply? Do you mind me asking what pill you are on? I tried Lo Loestrin a few months back but the estrogen was too low. I was having severe night sweats in them however I didn't have heartburn and reflux with that one. Now I am trying Junel with 30 micrograms of estrogen. I have more energy on this one so far but it seems to be irritating my stomach. I will give it some time and hopefully it will get better.

May I ask, were you having weight gain or hair shedding/dryness before bcp and it helped these symptoms ?

I have so many symptoms and I think the up and down hormones throughout the month are the problem. I am thinking of trying bcp to level everything out but am worried it will make symptoms worse.

What symptoms did you have that improved with bcp? Thanks!

My symptoms were hair shedding, dry skin and mainly digestive issues along with severe fatigue sometimes. I have night sweats off and on and started skipping some periods and then having a couple in one month.

HI. Sure, I am on Lo Loestrin and have been for the past year. It has been great but I am thinking of moving to one that is higher in estrogen too since some symptoms (hot flashes, dizziness, fatigue) seem to be creeping back up. I think that my body is changing again and I may need a higher dose.

Good luck with the stomach and keep me updated. Let me know if you like Junel.

      HI.

My symptoms were a little different. No weight gain or hair shedding, but more dizzy, hot flashes, total fatigue, anxiety....

In my experience, the steady dose of estrogen that the BCP brought has helped a ton. I know my hormones were all over the place and the BCP offered a steady level of estrogen to my body. I am on the lowest amount of estrogen pill. Eventually as my body continues down the path I may need to up it again. After about a year, I feel some of the symptoms creeping back in. In my situation, nothing was made worse by getting on the BCP.

I found I couldn't take the BCP. I was on Junel and lasted a week. The nausea, reflux and stomach pain got worse each day. It went away once I stopped. My GYN is trying me on Combipatch - very low dose HRT. I haven't started it yet. Has anyone else tried this? It's not going to override my system like BCP but will add to what my body makes. She wants to see if she can decrease the huge imbalance of hormones and get things a little more leveled out and not have such drastic fluctuations. She said it may be better since it is transdermal and hopefully won't cause stomach upset.
