Bed sores

my past wife had makings of first bed sore as she was in recliner for over a year and fought my suggestions she lay on a bed on one side for an hour, followed by laying on other side. she told me she felt like her control was taken from her when she was in bed. so all I could do was to put lotion on her almost full blown bed sore. any suggestions? HI Terry - After caring for my elderly parents for some time, and battling bed sores with my mother, i found the lotions and ointments to be counter productive. i found exposing the sores to sunlight, heat from a lamp and air from window for a few hours a day did the trick. obviously if you live in a cold climate that can be tricky, but even exposure with sunlight thru a window is good. i started treating them much like you would treat a baby with diaper rash. it seems the tendency is to keep the sore wet with salves, lotions & ointments...i unfortunately never had luck with that suggestion, i had the best luck with drying out the sore. obviously you want to make sure the sore is not infected in anyway. it is very important to keep a watchful eye out for infection - Also lying on sheepskin is also beneficial - i know how tough it is to battle these - Good Luck!
