Been almost two years since break and surgery. Still in pain.

Hello everyone!

So I broke my ankle almost two years ago, and had a surgery to add a plate and some screws in. They are still in there since the hospital over here isnt taking on any non-emergent cases because of the pandemic.

I don't know exactly the name of the fracture hence I don't live in a country where English is the first language. I know I dislocated my ankle and got a spiral fracture on my tibia (picture shows the state of my ankle before surgery, and post surgery).

My pain is mainly in the morning after I've done exercise, my deltoid ligament hurts randomly throughout the day and the area is sore. So I've got an appointment next month with an orthopedist (specializing in ankle injuries and joints). Has anyone experienced success after going to see a specialist? Is there any chance there's something wrong now that can be fixed or can I expect to feel this way forever?
