Been diagnosed with ovarian cyst yesterday!

I'm a 46yr old, fit, active and healthy mum of two who has been diagnosed with an ovarian cyst yesterday. Initially i went to my Dr complaining of very heavy periods with blood clotting, bloating and some sharp pain top of thigh/pelvic area. A transvaginal scan confirmed cyst on right ovary but I wasn't told the size but that I would be referred to gyno dept. Anyone know how long Gyno appointments take in the Uk? I was told to make an appointment to get blood taken, which I'm presuming is the ca125, that's happening next week. Should I be pushing to get bloods done quicker? How long to the blood results take to come back?

My mind has been racing with all sorts of thoughts, good and bad which has made me very tearful. It's the not knowing that scares me. How am I meant to carry on as normal with this on my mind.

Sorry, lots of questions.

Hi there, if the ultrasound indicates that it may be something serious, you will be seen by a gynaecologist within 2 weeks. Which area do you live? I live in London and that's my experience.

      Hi,

Thanks for replying. Went back to doctors practice on Friday and found out more about my TV scan. I have a 3cmx3.4cm complex cyst with at least one thick septation on the right ovary. I have full bloods getting taken this Tuesday coming and gyno appointment on 4th Sept. Stress levels through the roof, trying to keep busy and not think the worst. Not sure how quickly treatment/surgery begins from a gyno appointment, guess it depends on subsequent tests and it its malignant.

To think that for the past 11mths I thought this was premenopausal symptoms. Glad I got a doctor the second time around who referred me for a scan.
