Been ill for months and I need help please.

Hello everyone, I am trying to reach out for some help as to why I am going through all these different things and I was wondering if anybody else has ever experienced anything similar to this? It started 5 months ago when I developed a chest infection after a week of antibiotics it cleared up and I was okay. 1 week later I woke up one morning feeling extremely strange like myself or the things around me were not real and I couldn't move out of bed as every time I did I thought I was going to collapse, I went back to the doctors and he said it was a water infection and the feeling of not being real would go when that cleared. A week later I nearly collapsed at work and I was admitted to hospital with sinus tachycardia. After I got out of the hospital that first week I was so dizzy and weak I couldn't stand up or move far without feeling like I was going to collapse and I had these really severe headaches and couldn't eat much. The week after this I was back in the hospital with another episode of sinus tachycardia and a suspected chest infection. That time in the hospital is when things got much worse. My chest infection cleared and I was sent home. Over the weeks of being home I have developed vision problems, constant brain fog, pain in my abdomen and lower back and legs, pain in my neck, constantly need to use the toilet, breathlessness and chest pains, dizziness and nausea, this constant feeling of dread that I'm going to collapse and die, insomnia, horrendous mood swings, ringing in my ears, very fatigued, bad short term memory and concentration and overall just never getting any better. My doctor says this is all down to anxiety but I am really scared and worried that something really bad is happening. Thank you for taking the time to read this and any advice would be a massive help. Thank you so much.

I wonder how old you are Cara? Are you at work?

You have certainly been through some tough times with chest and urine infections and I am thinking you are now just waiting for something else to come along,so no wonder you have a feeling of something terrible about to happen. If you drink a lot of tea, coffee or coca cola that can cause an unusually fast heartbeat , also smoking, so if that applies to you,do try to cut down.

But acute infections can also cause a fast heartbeat so maybe that is the reason.

However anxiety could be at the root of all your feelings, and you may need some talking therapy to put your mind at rest and help you get your life back on track. Could your doctor help with this?

hi cara, i am going through similar symtpoms after being on antibiotics after and infection. the doctors are still at a loss and i am still undergoing tests however i think i may have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome after looking into it. maybe have a look at that, from what i have heard its very hard to get diagnosed as its an invisible illness (all tests results come back fine) and alot of doctors will say its anxiety or depression.

      Hi ,

I have CFS/ME and I thought the same. It can start after a virus/illness and can be post viral fatigue first which can lead to cfs/me. You have to have it for I believe 3 months for Drs to put it down to this.

In my case I can definitely say that I felt quite anxious and felt so ill, I knew I wasn't ok and felt like I hadn't slept. It took 18 months to even think it maybe cfs/me.

Rest is the biggest thing. if you feel dizzy when you lay down, prop yourself up with pillows. Keep your fluids up and eat as well as you can.
