Go to the link on this forum : sertraline withdrawl does it go away?  You will find many of us have suffered well beyond a year!  Your symptoms are very real.  I've been off this horrible drug for 13 months.  I awake most mornings with nausea, and stomach cramps, and yes loose bowels still!

Hi Maureen, hopefully u can offer some advice, my mum (59) started 50mg sertraline back in aug. Doc prescribed it instead if HRT as breast cancer in family. Just lately she has told me she has been having a change in bowel habits, soft stools (not runny diarrhoea), and on 3 occasions in December she noticed a tiny amount of red blood on stool. Obv when she told me this I panicked, took her straight up to a and e, they done a rectal examination, chest and abdo xray all clear, also her bloods where normal and haemoglobin was 14.8 which is good. Dr has referred her for a colonoscopy on Thursday 29 Jan. It was just a few days after our visit to a and e when my mum and I started linking the symptoms with Sertraline, and looking back my mum said within days of starting it she had dirohrea and really ever since motions where soft. So once we realised this she stopped taking tablets, (2weeks now) But today she had soft motion, how long did your side effects last after stopping? Do U think this could be the cause of my mums symptoms? Dreading Thursday I'm so worried.

Jen I've been off sertraline 13 months and still have nausea, and tummy cramps most mornings.  I also have to run to the bathroom first thing with loose stools.  It's the w.d. from sert IMO.  I never had this before sertraline. I have a great sensitivity to these drugs though, so your Mom may not suffer with w.d. as long as I have.  Most Drs. don't realize the effects this stuff has on some of us.  A good link to read on this forum is " Do sertraline withdrawl symtoms" ever go away.  You will see a few of us are long time sufferers.  I will NEVER take another psychiatric drug!

Thank you Maureen for your quick reply, Sertraline has to be the cause for mums problems, as before she started it she never had a problem. Hoping the colonoscopy is all clear on Thursday .

Hello, I've been off about 2 months now and only started feeling normal and back to me about 2 weeks ago.

During my withdrawel and for weeks after I had health anxiety, mild general anxiety, I was very irritable and moody and could cry at anything. I must say tho compared to before I started Sertraline or the first couple of weeks on them, these side effects were more mild.

Did your bad thought happen whilst on sertraline? Maybe go see your GP?
